LaShondra , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about a time you helped a customer really get an amazing result through their work with you.
Just recently I got a new customer through a Google search. She had never worn individual lashes and decided to try them. She came back for her fill-in lash appointment and they looked even more amazing then before. She left a 5-star review on Google! As a small business owner we live for those reviews because they bring in more customers.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I opened Sheer Faces after being let go from my job during the pandemic. I’m a licensed Cosmetologist and I learned to lash during the pandemic. At Sheer Faces I apply lashes that bring out the natural beauty in a person.
Most clients want lashes so they can look ready to go with minimal work in the morning. I provide that by using quality products that allow a lash client to have good retention for their lashes. What I am most proud of is that I have stayed true to the kind of lash services I want to provide. Social media can be full of distractions and I felt to some degree my lash work was not good. Well I learned to do what I’m good at and I found lash extensions that my clients love.
Having good products and offering lashes that give not to much volume, is my sweet spot. I also provide a spa-like atmosphere for my clients. When they come into my lash studio I go out of my way to provide a nice pleasing scent, calming music, and a nice chair to take a lash nap.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I have been a single parent to 6 children. It has not been easy but I never gave up. The pandemic was a curse and a blessing. I have been able to fix my personal and business credit, as well as build a lash business that I am proud of.
During the pandemic I was extremely busy but when the money stopped flowing I had to learn to pivot so I could keep the lights on. I took a remote job to do this and I have managed to get more clients. I have learned to appreciate the journey and I have a game plan. I am doing good even though there are financial issues in the world. I have learned to not focus on the things I cannot control and instead focus and do what is working for me to move to the next level.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source I have found to gain new clients is Google. My business listing is complete and I encourage people to leave Google reviews. I also think that since I switched from Square to Gloss Genius, the tools they have in place have helped me get better bookings. Gloss Genius is a great booking app for people in the beauty industry.
