We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful LaShonda Linnen. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with LaShonda below.
Hi LaShonda, thanks for joining us today. What was your school or training experience like? Share an anecdote or two that you feel illustrate important aspects or the overall nature of your schooling/training experience.
Forever a learner…One thing from my experience and clinical training was that the text book is not the real world. I’ve learned all about brains, personalities, diagnoses and interventions to treat them. Holding a doctorate degree is a prestigious accomplishment, however it does not mean anything if we aren’t able to assist those around us with the knowledge we hold.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
The poverty mindset! The impact of growing up poor or having very little creates a person that is some times stuck in the same childhood place. Unfortunately this mindset is a thing a person must unlearn for long term success. I can recall when I first went into business I gave away a bulk of my services. This is detrimental to a business brand and model.

How’d you meet your business partner?
My business partner is my spouse. I met my husband six years ago and he encouraged me to step out on faith and begin my journey as a private practitioner. We are both Charleston natives with big dreams for a blessed family. He prayed for me and met me on eharmony. We have a beautiful love and business story.
