Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to LaShonda Hill. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
LaShonda, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea for my business didn’t come from one single moment—it grew over time as I grew in my gift. I started doing hair simply because I loved it. I loved the creativity, the transformation, and the confidence it brought out in people. Even in the early years, before I had a brand or a platform, I knew I had something special in my hands.
As my skills grew, so did my heart for serving people. I began making wigs for cancer patients long before it ever became a “business idea.” It was something I did out of compassion, because I understood how deeply hair connects to identity and self-esteem. At that time, I didn’t realize I was planting the seeds for what would become my signature niche.
Years later, after my parents passed away—only three months apart—everything shifted. Their loss pushed me into a season of reflection, grief, and rediscovery. In that season, God began revealing that my gift was bigger than styling. He showed me that beauty would become my ministry, my platform, and my purpose. It wasn’t just about hair anymore—it was about healing.
That’s when I began traveling, teaching at conferences, designing wigs at a higher level, and creating educational resources. What I had been doing quietly for years suddenly became a brand. The vision expanded. I wasn’t just helping individuals; I was training stylists around the world, giving them tools to change lives the same way I was changing lives.
I knew this was a worthwhile endeavor because the response was undeniable. People weren’t only interested in the skill—they were drawn to the compassion, the excellence, the personal touch, and the heart behind it. My approach was unique because it blended creativity with care, beauty with ministry, and technique with transformation.
What excited me most was knowing that I was solving a problem that wasn’t being fully addressed: the emotional, spiritual, and personal journey tied to hair loss and confidence. I offered more than a service—I offered hope, beauty, and dignity.
My business became what it is today because it was built on purpose, passion, and a calling that wouldn’t let me sit still. Even through grief, God used my gift to open doors, create opportunities, and help people in a way that felt both meaningful and destined.

LaShonda, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is LaShonda Hill, and I am a hairstylist, wig designer, educator, platform artist, mentor, and author. I’ve spent more than two decades in the beauty industry, and my journey began with a simple love for creating transformations. What started as a passion for hairstyling grew into a purpose-driven career that now includes global education, product development, publishing, and a brand that touches lives far beyond the salon chair.
I entered this industry because I genuinely loved helping people feel confident and beautiful. Early in my career, I began quietly making wigs for cancer patients. I didn’t advertise it—I just felt called to do it. I realized then that hair was deeply connected to emotion, identity, and confidence. That understanding shaped my entire approach.
Years later, after losing both of my parents only three months apart, everything expanded. In my grief, God gave me clarity and showed me that my gift wasn’t meant to stay local—it was meant to become a ministry, a platform, and a global impact tool. That’s when I stepped into educating, traveling, speaking, and becoming a platform artist. I began teaching stylists around the world how to design wigs, elevate their techniques, and build purposeful careers. I developed my own conference, released signature shears, created tutorial DVDs, and poured into upcoming stylists as a mentor with both technical excellence and spiritual grounding.
Today, my brand provides a full ecosystem that includes:
• Custom wigs and hair solutions for individuals experiencing hair loss or seeking premium transformations
• Global education & training for stylists and wig designers
• Platform artistry, where I teach from main stages, showcase techniques, and motivate beauty professionals
• Mentorship programs for stylists building a purposeful career
• Professional tools, products, and digital education
• Faith-based encouragement and empowerment woven into everything I do
• Published authorship, with my book inspiring readers to bloom, grow, and succeed with their God-given gifts
As an author, I’m able to reach people beyond the beauty industry—sharing my story, my faith, and the lessons that have shaped my life. My writing carries the same mission as my artistry: to uplift, inspire, and help others step into everything God created them to be.
What sets me apart is the way I merge skill, ministry, and heart. My work is not just technical—it’s transformational. Clients don’t just receive services, they receive compassion, excellence, and confidence. Stylists don’t just learn techniques, they learn purpose, professionalism, and how to operate with integrity.
I am most proud of the impact: the women who feel whole again through custom pieces, the stylists who launch successful businesses after my classes, the messages from people who feel seen and empowered through my book, and the doors God continues to open that I could have never opened on my own.
What I want people to know is simple:
My brand is built on purpose. I am committed to excellence, driven by compassion, and rooted in faith. Everything I create—whether on a stage, behind the chair, in a classroom, or on a page—is designed to empower and transform.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I built my social media audience by simply showing up as myself. When I first started posting, I wasn’t trying to go viral or follow trends—I was just sharing my work, my journey, and my heart. People connected with my honesty, my creativity, and the way I poured into others. I shared my wig transformations, my techniques, behind-the-scenes moments, travel experiences, and messages of faith and encouragement. Over time, my page became a place where people came not only for beauty, but for inspiration.
What helped me grow was consistency and authenticity. I didn’t pretend to be perfect, and I never tried to be anyone other than who God called me to be. When you show your true personality, your gift, and your purpose, people can feel it—even through a screen. That’s what builds trust, and trust is what builds an audience.
Another big part of my growth came from education. When I started teaching, traveling, and posting my classes, wig designs, tips, and results, stylists all over the world began following me because they wanted to learn—not just watch. That positioned me as a mentor and expert, and it expanded my reach organically. I wasn’t chasing numbers; I was adding value.
For anyone just starting out, my advice is:
1. Be consistent.
You don’t need to post every minute, but your audience should feel your presence regularly.
2. Show your personality and your purpose.
People follow people—not perfect feeds.
3. Give value.
Teach something, inspire someone, or uplift someone. The more you pour out, the more people lean in.
4. Stay in your lane.
Don’t compare yourself to pages that have been growing for years. Focus on your gift.
5. Engage with your audience.
Respond, connect, and build community. Social media is a conversation, not a billboard.
6. Be patient and stay authentic.
Slow, steady, genuine growth is always more powerful—and more profitable—than overnight attention.
My audience grew because I served, I shared, and I stayed true to who I am. And that’s still my strategy today: show up with excellence, lead with heart, and let God amplify the rest.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
One of the clearest examples of my resilience came during the season when I lost both of my parents just three months apart. That kind of loss changes you. It slows you down, breaks you open, and puts your strength to the test in ways you never expect. At that time, I was doing hair and quietly making wigs for cancer patients, but I hadn’t begun teaching, traveling, or building the brand that people see today.
After their loss, I found myself at a crossroads. I was grieving deeply, but I also felt a stirring—not from ambition, but from God. It was as if their passing unlocked a part of me I didn’t know existed. In the middle of heartbreak, I started seeing glimpses of what my life could become if I trusted God with my gift. Instead of shutting down, I made a decision to lean in.
That’s when everything shifted.
I started saying yes to opportunities I once would’ve been too afraid to take. I began teaching, traveling, and stepping onto platforms I never imagined. I created my own conferences, trained stylists around the world, and developed products and resources that would eventually shape my brand. None of that began before my parents passed—it all began because I refused to let that level of pain stop me.
My resilience wasn’t loud or glamorous. It was quiet and steady. It looked like showing up when my heart was heavy. It looked like trusting God when nothing made sense. It looked like choosing purpose over staying broken.
What could have been the end of me became the beginning of a whole new chapter of my life.
That season taught me that resilience is not about having it all together—it’s about continuing to bloom even in the places where life tried to bury you.
