We caught up with the brilliant and insightful LaShon Holliday a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi LaShon, thanks for joining us today. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
I aim to leave a lasting legacy for my grandchildren, focusing on creating generational wealth. I want to be remembered as a resilient, empowered, and business-savvy woman who fearlessly pursued her ambitions. My hope is that this inspires my grandchildren to relentlessly chase their dreams, undeterred by skeptics or challenges on their path.
LaShon, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m LaShon Holliday, originally from Chicago, IL, now living in Snellville, GA. I’m a devoted wife, mother of four (plus my dog), grandmother, daughter, sister, author, writer, producer and friend. Known for my kindness and support, I’m the backbone of my family. I find joy in laughter, smiles, and moments with loved ones. As an Entrepreneur with a Business Degree and my husband and I owning Holliday’s Construction & Locating, I’m passionate about event planning, Film Productions , Film & Script Writing, and Construction. I thrive on movie and TV sets, having appeared in “Widows” and various Chicago-based shows. Despite life-changing events like brain surgery, I share my story to inspire others. As an author, my book “Embracing Your Past Pains” encourages women to grow through challenges. Additionally, I wrote and produced my first film, “It’s Something About When Sunday Comes,” soon to be on multiple streaming platforms which is now streaming on Cubestream.com
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Hmm, what makes me resilient? I don’t know if it was the full craniotomy I underwent or losing everything I owned in a house fire and having to rebuild my whole life. Both instances had me DEVASTATED and I felt like giving up. It seemed impossible to recover from these losses with all the work that I would have to put into not only getting better but becoming stronger than I was before both physically and mentally. I had to step back and look at life from all angles, it was about more than me now. I sought help from family, friends, and community programs taking advantage of every resource and bit of information they had to offer. Despite these setbacks, and other small challenges I faced, with the help of my loving husband, I was able to reconstruct and rebrand my life so that I was able to flourish resiliently into the woman I am today.
