We caught up with the brilliant and insightful LaShanna Moore a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, LaShanna thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
Thank you for the opportunity!
Defining moments are definitely throughout my life and this work.
When I first became a holistic health practitioner 50% of my clients were women challenged with reproductive health issues (fibroids and fertility).
While these challenges still very much exist I am also observing an influx of women who are entering perimenopause and menopause.
As a woman I identify on both spectrums; concern and a need for answers. Much of my practice has pivoted to accommodate this need and to be a haven of support and resources.
Truth is, we are all maturing in life so just as women are entering new phases of life so am I. It’s a support system that I provide with love and grace for us all.
LaShanna, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a woman first and practitioner second
My background is artistic and holistic.
I am degreed and certified.
I love that I’m able to use both sides of my brain.
I also believe that my patience and genuine concern for women have allowed me to be successful and maintain a great report for the last 13 1/2 years.
I believe in treating women as individuals first not as a name on the roster or a dollar in my pocket.
Wellness is not for sale and shouldn’t be handled that way.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn the idea of a sensational health. Health is not to be sold in a package of steps. Health is gradual; it takes a lot of patience, research, more patience and even trial and error. People are unique in every way and well-being requires personal care.
If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?
I absolutely would choose this all over again. Practitioner and artist are what I love and would do it day or night.
