We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful LaShane Arnett. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with LaShane below.
LaShane, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
My mother died in 2015. Two years later the idea for my first novel, The Pain Eater, sprung to mind. I would say that sitting down and writing The Pain Eater, the story of a woman who lost her mother, has been the most meaningful project thus far. It was very cathartic and happened at a time I was trying to understand the power of grief as well as release it.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hi everyone! I am LaShane Arnett. I am an author of paranormal thrillers and poetry. I am also the owner and creator of Arnett Publications LLC. I am a creative who absolutely loves to write. I have been writing since I was twelve years old. I released my first book, Go Ask LaShane, a compilation of poetry and short stories, in 2019. Through my novels I weave words together to evoke strong emotions. Through my poetry I want to challenge people to contemplate their reality. And through both I invite my readers to embrace the power of the imagination.
I believe everyone has something to offer their communities and culture through art, be it through creating it, or admiring and sharing it.
I created Arnett Publications LLC in 2019 as a means to protect my works on my self-publishing journey. I applaud indie authors and know first hand it takes endurance and dedication to succeed. There is a lot of things to consider and a lot of things to learn about the business.
I am learning all I can and my goal is to one day expand Arnett Publications LLC so I can represent those who may not want to take on the task of marketing themselves.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is connectivity—being able to create something that connects you to those who enjoy your work and/or benefit from it.
Sometimes I write and my words will inspire others to write as well, or take a step back and reflect on their life or a current situation in their lives. Sometimes others read my work and connect to it on an emotional level. I love when people email me or message me to let me know how much a poem or a chapter has touched them.
Connectivity is a very raw and beautiful thing. It is what I love most about being a creative.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy has been committing to a social media presence. Finding ways to connect to your readers through social media and newsletters. It is absolutely key to growing clientele and successful marketing. It can be overwhelming and draining, but you just have to find a balance between a work presence and a personal one.
