We were lucky to catch up with Lashanda Houston, MSHRM, SHRM-CP, PHR recently and have shared our conversation below.
Lashanda, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
The mission of New Heights Career Services is to help underemployed professional pivot into their ideal 6-figure role by landing at least 3 interviews within 14 days.
Being underemployed is a harsh reality and many people have experienced the glass ceiling.
There are many talented and skilled professionals that need an extra boost to help them achieve their ideal role.
This mission hits home for LaShanda, as she was an underemployed professional. Knowing what it takes to overcome this challenge and the motivation behind the mission.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
LaShanda Houston is a HR Director with 12 years of HR experience. I started in HR as an intern with the aspirations to become a Nurse Recruiter. Recruiting has always been my wheelhouse but I thrived within high-level strategic functions. No matter what project or function I was assigned to, I was always asked to solve the recruitment challenge.
I started to identify issues between qualified professionals and career challenges. As someone charged with filling multiple positions and handling HR programs, I began to utlilize creative approaches to fill positions, educate hiring managers, and adovate for professionals.
It was at that moment that I realized my mission and launched New Heights Career Services.
All services and packages offered by New Heights Career Services are designed to help underemployed professionals struggling to pivot into their ideal career. NHCS has helped professionals overcome job search obstacles using a proven framework created from operational experiences.

My reputation was bulit upon my passion and expertise in HR. When clients find me on social media, they can instantly relate to my messages. I provide a level of transparency and guidance based on my operational and educational HR experiences. Throughout the years, my clients have achieved some significant achievements and showcasing testimonals fosters a higher reputation within the resume industry.
