We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lasandra Lee a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Lasandra, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about how you went about setting up your own practice and if you have any advice for professionals who might be considering starting their own?
.
The inspiration behind Leesang Services LLC came from deeply personal experiences. While posted overseas on assignment, I witnessed family members navigating post-surgical recovery alone, without the support they needed. It was distressing to see their struggles from afar, knowing how crucial proper care is during recovery. Later, I found myself in the same situation—recovering from multiple surgeries without adequate assistance. These experiences highlighted a significant gap in post-operative care, particularly for individuals without immediate family support. Recognizing this unmet need, I was determined to create a solution. That vision led to the founding of Leesang Services LLC, a practice dedicated to providing high-quality, patient-centered post-operative nursing care.
The first step was conducting thorough market research to assess the demand for specialized post-operative nursing care. I wanted to ensure that this service was not only needed but also sustainable as a business model. One of the biggest challenges was establishing credibility and marketing myself effectively. In a field where trust and experience are paramount, gaining that initial confidence from clients and surgeons was crucial. I knew that securing just one referral or endorsement would create a ripple effect, opening doors to greater opportunities.
Looking back, while the journey has been incredibly rewarding, I might have sought mentorship earlier in the process. Learning from experienced professionals in the industry could have helped me navigate some of the early obstacles more efficiently. However, every challenge I faced became a valuable lesson that strengthened my business and my resolve.
If you have a vision, don’t hesitate—take action. Start by conducting in-depth research to understand your market, identify your niche, and develop a strong business strategy. Finding a mentor can be invaluable, as learning from someone with experience can help you avoid common pitfalls. Most importantly, embrace challenges as part of the growth process. Mistakes are inevitable, but each one is an opportunity to learn and improve. The key is resilience—every step forward, no matter how small, brings you closer to success.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a nurse practitioner and the founder of Leesang Services LLC, a post-operative nursing care business based in Florida. My journey into this field was deeply personal—after witnessing loved ones struggle through surgical recoveries alone and experiencing similar challenges myself, I realized there was a critical gap in post-operative care. Many individuals undergo procedures without a reliable support system in place, making recovery more difficult than it needs to be. Recognizing this need, I was inspired to establish a service that ensures patients receive high-quality, compassionate care in the comfort of their own homes.
Leesang Services LLC specializes in post-operative nursing care, providing services such as medical clearances, wound care, Manual lymphatic drainage, and select aesthetic treatments. We bridge the gap between hospital discharge and full recovery by offering professional, hands-on care that enhances healing and prevents complications. Many patients, particularly those undergoing elective or outpatient procedures, do not have immediate family or trained caregivers available to assist them. Our services provide peace of mind, ensuring a smoother, safer, and more comfortable recovery process.
What distinguishes Leesang Services LLC is our commitment to personalized, high-quality care with a strong emphasis on patient advocacy. Unlike traditional home health services that operate on strict insurance-driven timelines, we tailor our care plans to each client’s specific needs, providing the level of attention and expertise that ensures optimal recovery. Our approach is holistic, blending clinical expertise with genuine compassion, which has helped us build strong relationships with both patients and medical professionals.
I am most proud of the impact we’ve had on our clients’ lives. Seeing patients regain their strength and confidence after surgery, knowing that we played a role in their healing process, is incredibly fulfilling. Additionally, navigating the challenges of building a business from the ground up—especially in the healthcare space—has been a rewarding learning experience. Every success, whether it’s a patient’s recovery milestone or a new referral from a satisfied client, reinforces my belief in the importance of the work we do.
At Leesang Services LLC, our mission is simple: to provide exceptional, patient-centered post-operative care that enhances healing and improves overall well-being. We understand that surgery can be overwhelming, and our goal is to ease that burden by offering professional, compassionate care tailored to each individual’s needs. For those considering our services, know that you are in the hands of experienced professionals who genuinely care about your recovery. Whether you need short-term assistance or ongoing support, we are here to help you heal with confidence and comfort.
Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
Beyond education and technical expertise, success in my field relies heavily on networking, mentorship, consistency, and resilience. Building relationships with other professionals, especially surgeons and healthcare providers, has been invaluable for establishing trust and credibility. Having a mentor—someone who has navigated similar challenges—can provide invaluable guidance and help avoid common pitfalls.
Additionally, success requires a strong sense of drive and a commitment to SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) goals. Setting clear, realistic objectives keeps you focused and motivated. Equally important is the ability to be patient and kind to yourself—entrepreneurship is a journey filled with learning curves, and growth takes time.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele has been built on three core principles: empathy, loyalty, and relationship-building.
Empathy allows me to truly understand my clients’ concerns and provide personalized, compassionate care. Patients and their families want to feel heard and supported, and that level of attentiveness fosters trust.
Loyalty is key—not just from clients, but to clients. By consistently delivering high-quality care and going the extra mile, I have earned long-term clients and valuable word-of-mouth referrals.
Relationship-building has been the foundation of my business. Establishing strong connections with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals has led to repeat business and a steady flow of referrals. A strong reputation and genuine relationships will always be more powerful than any marketing campaign.
