Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Las Estrellas De Tejas. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Las Estrellas thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
We began las Estrellas de Tejas for students who have graduated to have the opportunity to continue dancing ballet folklorico. Showcasing the bright costumes and dances is more than just a hobby to las Estrellas!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Most of the dancers are first-generation students. while others hope to honor their parent’s home country.
Las Estrellas, was formed less than five years ago and it has quickly found success. For many of the dancers, it’s a side gig.
They perform on weekends at events, restaurants, and festivals. It all began when the group represented the Professional Bull Rider’s Team Mexico on center stage at AT&T Stadium. Headlining FC Dallas halftime show two years in a row, headlining their own residency at Sixflags Over Texas’ “Viva la Fiesta” festival, Performed with international superstar Natalia Jimenez and most recently la princesa del regional Mexicana : Angela Aguilar
No matter what stage we performed on coming back home is always a great reward,
Some of our favorite events to participate in are the Grand Prairie Cinco De Mayo parade. Proudly Organized by the Hispanic association for culture and education. (HACE) & any event that Las Mariposas De Mansfield put on

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
As we mention we recently had the opportunity to perform for Angela Aguilar. We were extremely honored to have this opportunity. Our dancers did the best we could do to prepare a great show ; Having additional latenight practices everyday after work/ school , staying over time just to make sure we had it down. To recording ourselves every practice and
critiquing what we were planning to present! We’ve started from the ground up and have to represent what we stand for and what we want the world to see! We don’t always get these opportunities but when we do we like to give it our all!
( Brianna Hernandez )
One of the hardest part was not having the rest of our team. We strive for opportunities like these for our dancers and having to choose who will perform was not easy.
( Cinthia’ Garza)
Another challenge was we had no idea how the stage would look like. It wasn’t until we entered the Arena that we realized how small the stage was. (Bethany Llaguno ) The anticipation of when we were going to go on stage made me more and more nervous as the day went on. (Sharron Rivera) It was a big experience for me and everyone else. I’m glad I got to perform for Angela Aguilar.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
My favorite memory was getting to spend time with the group, get closer to them and seeing the hard work and dedication pay off. It felt like a dream! ( Cinthia Garza & Sharron Rivera ) We’ve started from the ground up and have worked very very hard to be seen on big screens. Hearing the music so loudly within our
bodies as we dance, and smile, and laugh
together while putting on a show! Being able to look over and see my best friend, and my other friends having fun, was one of my favorite moments for me. I’ve learned to forget about everything else and just take in moments like these while dancing on stage. ( Brianna Hernandez )
Thank you to las estrellas de tejas for this amazing opportunity and my mom for telling me to dance in 6th grade ( Sharron Rivera )
We hope our Folklorico, group can be
a place everyone feels at home! No matter
their past experiences or history with dancing.
It’s more than just dancing to a song; it’s about
building up a show, expressing ourselves
through the music, allowing our audience to
feel the love and passion we share on stage!
There are many ups and downs but we never
give up, building a legacy in this would be the biggest achievements for me. To see other individuals enjoy dancing Folklorico as much as I do. It’s the little things that can bring the
biggest joy, and when we work together
amazing things happen.( Brianna Hernandez)
Very thankful to have been able to be a part of this, even if it was a few minutes I know the audience loved seeing Mexican folklorico dancers on stage. The smiles on their faces as soon as we started dancing is the reason I love to perform and be on stage. Being on a stage always makes me so happy, and meeting all the other artist was a great plus! ( Daniela Rodriguez)
Las Estrellas de Tejas would like to express extreme gratitude towards the Aguilar Family & Team for allowing us to be apart of their set during El Bueno La Mala Y El feo Fest. This opportunity has brought a light to the team and their community allowing others to see that the impossible is possible.
Thank you Sonia Garza & Family for all of their support through this whole year and journey!
