Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Larry Pleasant. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Larry , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
Growing up, I was always fascinated with drawing. I loved attempting to draw my favorite cartoon characters and making little comics. Although I never took the creative path seriously until I graduated high school. As a result, I initially majored in Computer Information. The summer before I left for college, my cousin showed me Adobe Photoshop Elements and taught me the basics of Photoshop. For me, the moment when I learned how to use the quick selection tool and its purpose, my whole life changed. Immediately I became intrigued. Shortly after, I began working on more and more Photoshop side projects. During my introductory classes in Computer Information, I realized very quickly this wasn’t the career for me. I decided to pursue graphic design professionally once I learned what a graphic designer does for a living. I remember talking to one of my Professors about my interest in graphic design and what changing majors would lead to curriculum-wise. Once I found out about the required courses, I didn’t hesitate at all to make the change in my major.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’ve always had an interest in drawing and making graphics since I was in elementary school. Although I never took making art seriously as a profession until graduating high school. While working on my degree, I came across the works of various well-known illustrators and graphic designers. This insight allowed me to discover which creative industry was best for me.
My work focuses on illustrative branding, character design, logo design, brand development, and print production. My clients rely on my work to visually define their brand identities, tell a story, lead the direction of concept development, or differentiate their business through strong communication that showcases a unique and recognizable identity.
As a designer, my approach to design includes unique storytelling, expressive typography, bold graphic identity, color theory, and pop culture reference.
I am most proud of my growth as an artist. Witnessing a consistent yearly improvement in the quality of my work has been very fulfilling. As an artist, I find that we are always seeking to discover what our brand embodies. Once I realized my strong suit of creative work. I directed all my attention to that specific discipline. I found this very beneficial in allowing my brand to connect with the industry best suited for my line of work. My brand is not only for one specific demographic. My goal is to connect like-minded individuals who share a commonality of this interest in expressive graphic identities and brands that leave a lasting impact on their personal experiences.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is the ability to mentally escape any lingering stress or anxiety through making art. Once I enter my studio and begin my creative process, I am no longer concerned with the worries of daily life outside of being creative.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I believe an artist’s presence on social media is imperative. The majority of my success as a creative has come from social media. My personal growth on social media stems from consistently posting new work, collaborating with artists, applying my unique style to relevant pop culture, continuously improving my quality of work, and applying new design techniques to my work.
