We were lucky to catch up with Larry King recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Larry thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Success is a subjective concept, and what it takes to be successful can vary from person to person. However, there are certain common factors that contribute to success in various areas of life, but for me I believe you need these 10 things.
1. Clear goals
2. Hard work and perseverance
3. Continuous learning
4. Resilience and adaptability
5. A positive mindset
6. Networking and collaboration
7. Time management and discipline
8. Emotional intelligence
9. Adaptation to failure
10. Passion and purpose
It’s important to note that success is a personal and subjective concept. What one person considers successful may differ from another person’s definition. It’s essential to define success for yourself based on your values, aspirations, and personal circumstances.
Larry, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Larry King I am 28 years old. I have been married for 4 years to the beautiful Aszure King we have 3 amazing children Antwaun, Azrielle, and Lewie. I got into photography while making flyers and taking photos for my cousins music entertainment business called Music Central Network “MCN” in 2012. I was never a photogenic person but after doing it for so long I found that I had a eye and passion for photography. In 2013 I unofficially started my photography business taking family and senior pictures, taking photos of the members of my church and through the years as I grew, I started to get more business taking photos of weddings more senior and family photos, I started to do portrait and candid photos. I loved what I was doing! I always wanted to become a legal business so in 2021 I took the leap of faith and started Larry King photography LLC. Now I am a full-time professional photographer. I work for a photography company “Iconik Studio Schools” as well taking school pictures.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
When I started posting my work on social media, I did not get the result that I want it right away. I want it to have 1000 likes on the picture I wanted to have 1 million followers but that wasn’t realistic starting out. What I did was I went to family members, friends, coworkers, anybody that had social media I would tell them about my social media platform, and I would ask them to like all of the work comment and share it with other people that they knew in overtime. I started to build an audience and receiving more clients. For anyone starting out on social media the key is to be consistent with what you are posting.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for drawing clientele, has literally been word of mouth social media has helped a lot, but word of mouth spreads it so fast! When a person sees your work on social media, what they do is say hey did you see such and such work? He did such an amazing job. Maybe I should contact him to do some work for me. There are other way for growth but for me word of mouth has been amazing!
