Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Larissa Lien. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Larissa thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
The funny thing is, I didn’t ever think I would be a content creator/influencer for companies. I refused to get Instagram for the longest time because it was “popular” and I’m not the kind of person who will do something just because it’s popular. When I began working as a Beachbody coach, I set up Instagram and even though plans changed, I continued to be authentic and share my story on social media. What started as me sharing my story with nutrition and fitness, turned into being an inspiration for others. This launched into companies seeing me share with authenticity and asking me to create content for their products or services because I was so true to who I was. The first time I was approached, it was a nerve wracking feeling as that’s a big deal! I took the time to take nice photos, edit them, and write content and it was a scary feeling to put so much out there. But after just one post, I knew I had the creativity and ability to do the same for others. This excitement propelled me to where I am today.

Larissa, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I think to how I have always been a storyteller, just in different ways. Growing up and in college, I performed onstage in theatrical and musical theatre performances. Now, through my content, I continue to be a storyteller. Whether it’s influencing work or content creation for companies, I share how the products or services may have helped me and how they can perhaps help others. I love tying in my life to the content. I am a twin mom and preschool teacher who went from simply posting on social media as an outlet to having others reach out to me to say that I am making an impact on their lives, so I continued to share! Due to sharing authentically on social media, I have worked alongside many companies and am excited for what’s to come. What I’m working on next is building my clientele and creating social media content for others who don’t have the time or desire to work the social media side of their business. For local businesses, I can travel to the facility to take videos and photos as well as understand their business more to create social media content for them. For virtual clients, I request additional information on what they would like me to write on social media about their business as well as videos and photos. This is also great for businesses who want to focus on their current client list rather than spending more time on social media where it takes away time from other jobs they could be focusing on.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
My biggest piece of advice is just be yourself. Be authentically true to you. It’s easy to get into the comparison game of the content you’re creating to the number of followers you currently have. Just know you are comparing your behind the scenes to someone else’s highlight reel. People don’t show the hard moments so you don’t know what’s always going on in someone’s life. As for the number of followers, we all start at zero. You’ll gain followers by sharing things that are true to you. You’ll find your people through you being real. I built my audience by starting at zero and sharing my life, sharing what’s important to me, and educating others. I started my Instagram when I chose to become a Beachbody coach, shared about my struggles with nutrition and fitness, how I wanted to change those habits and learn to become healthy, as well as daily life as a twin mom. Since then, I have pivoted from coaching. I have continued to share about being a twin mom, educating others on twin mom life, educating on child development, and throwing in some silly content that others relate to as well. This has built my audience by showing the raw, the real, and the fun me!
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
One of the biggest driving forces for social media content creation is wanting that flexibility and freedom in my life. I want to be able to provide without worry for my family. Having that additional financial income has helped greatly. Social media content creation is virtual so I am able to do this for countless businesses as I can do this from anywhere. Due to being virtual, I can help literally any business!
