We were lucky to catch up with Larissa Leath recently and have shared our conversation below.
Larissa, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
The current structure in the San Antonio wedding industry does not adequately support the business needs of the majority of vendors, and the ROI is not satisfactory. A few individuals do well, but we can do better. This brand means to help the majority of small businesses grow to their full potential. The Ultimate Wedding Experience offers mentorship, providing insight and business ideas – not just from one individual – but from a collaboration of a variety of vendors who share the same struggle. These ideas aren’t only from one business background but from multiple specialties. Our main slogan is, “Welcome to the New Age Of Weddings,” which means we set the standard. This is a multifaceted concept. We merge high fashion and bridal, separating us from the typical rustic themes that saturate wedding motifs in San Antonio. We equip vendors with the necessary tools to succeed, e.g., professional headshots, product shots, interviews, marketing and social media assistance. We give back to our community with free micro-weddings, free vow renewals, and charities. We also provide cost-effective vendor options through our Pink Diamond Membership.

Larissa, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Larissa Leath and I am the Owner of The Ultimate Wedding Experience, LLC. Originally I made my debut as The Floral Standard, LLC, by creating floral walls for all events and occasions. I participated in a handful of wedding shows to showcase and market my product. Unfortunately, they were all the same; expensive to take part in, overwhelming, and lacked ROI. Thus, my idea for The Ultimate Wedding Experience came to fruition. The UWE is a multifaceted brand providing specialty wedding shows, designer events, noteworthy styled photoshoots, a blog, and our podcast! My team is pioneering new ideas to disrupt the “old way” of doing things.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
More often than not, society tells us to not take risks. However, taking well-informed risks is important and taking risks alone is okay too. I learned to be confident in my capabilities, and I developed a greater trust for myself. In the beginning when the brand was only a thought, not many vendors wanted to support my vision because it was a huge undertaking, it was too “risky”. I even received pushback from certain vendors as well. Unphased, I continued to push forward because I was confident in my vision, I am proud of what I’ve created and no one is going to stop me. Welcome to the new age of weddings.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Being unique, creating concepts that are foreign to San Antonio. Doing what no one else is willing to do.
