Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Larenzo Floyd. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Larenzo, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
One of the most significant and meaningful projects in my life was my first EP, “From Me To You.” It marked a transformative period for me, filled with valuable lessons and guidance from my peers. Creating this EP from scratch was an immensely enjoyable experience that captured my growth and development.
“From Me to You” is a collection of songs that delve into the inner struggles and challenges of growing up. Each track explores contrasting themes, such as gratitude versus glamor, humility versus ego, hurt versus healing, and hopelessness versus hope. The EP’s sound takes listeners on a journey through stories of addiction, pain, and dreams for a better future. The musical landscape ranges from bluesy guitar chords to soulful funk, infused with elements of psychedelic R&B and pop/rock. The project skillfully constructs innovative neo-soul harmonies, creating a vivid and creative sonic experience.
Working on this project not only helped me grow as an artist but also guided me to where I am today and where I strive to be in the future. Even after my grandma’s passing, listening to the EP brings back profound memories and serves as a continuous source of guidance, reminding me why I pursue this path in music.
Larenzo, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Larenzo Floyd, a native Seattleite, musician, and music producer. Alongside my music background, I have diverse experience in education, social work, film, and art. Gradually immersing myself in Seattle’s vibrant music community, I cherish every aspect of the collaborative process.
At the age of 9, I started learning drums under Seattle drummer Davis Martin. Despite challenges, I continued to pursue music. Throughout the years, I self-taught guitar, bass, music production, and recording arts, evolving from MPC essentials to utilizing Ableton and Protools, discovering my true passion. Which was creating new and unique soundscapes.
My journey as a creative and a community member has been shaped by the influence of my parents, siblings, mentors, and loved ones, who instilled a vision of equity and positive change. Their support and my upbringing have cultivated confidence and a positive outlook, driving me to achieve my goals. I am sincerely grateful for their unwavering support, and I aspire to express my love for them through my music and artistry.
The message I aim to convey through my music is to have fun while cultivating mindfulness and filling your spirits with bliss and empathy towards others.
Moreover, I am eager to expand my network and connect with like-minded individuals who share my passion for organizing inspiring music events that empower people from BIPOC backgrounds, including LGBTQIA+ individuals, to thrive in management roles. I aim to contribute to breaking down barriers and creating collective paths to success.

The best way to support artists and creatives is to actively participate and engage. Your local community can benefit from your support if you make a concerted effort to support them.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspects of being a creative/artist is the ability to express one’s thoughts, emotions, and experiences through artistic and creative endeavors is undeniably the most fulfilling aspect. The freedom to bring one’s imaginative ideas to life is, without a doubt, among the most gratifying elements of this journey.
