We recently connected with Laramie Otto and have shared our conversation below.
Laramie, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
In 2020 in the middle of the pandemic I quit my 9-5 job to work for myself full time! It was probably the scariest thing I had ever done but I had dreamed of that moment for so long. I figured if I never at least tried I would never know if I would succeed. I’m celebrating 2 years of working for myself and although it’s sometimes stressful I wouldn’t trade it for anything!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Laramie Otto, I’m a social media manager and content creator. I’ve been a blogger and content creator for 6 years now, it started as a creative outlet for me from my full time job. I loved it so much that I knew I eventually wanted to take my business full time. Two years ago I quit my job to start my own social media management business along with the content creation. I help overwhelmed entrepreneurs connect with their ideal clients online so they can focus on their bottom line. I love that this is my job!
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
I am a huge proponent of touching base and following up. I learned from my previous administrative jobs the importance of keeping in touch with clients and brands. I really love utilizing Trello and G-Mail for keeping track of client notes and scheduling tasks/emails so that I’m consistently in touch with my clients. Another thing I like to add is doing pop-by’s every so often for clients, bringing them and their team a treat at work.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The ability to be creative in my job is the best thing! I’ve always enjoyed being artistic and creative so being able to apply those things to my job as a social media manager and content creator makes it not even feel like work. Working with other creatives is a huge plus as well as helping others with your creativity is really fulfilling!
