Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lara Bercu. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Lara, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you recount a time when the advice you provided to a client was really spot on? (Please note this response is for education/entertainment purposes only and shouldn’t be construed as advice for the reader)
The best advice I give to my clients is to have a home care routine with products that I recommend after their treatments. 85% of healing and maintaining the skin is a at home treatment. While the skin is being taken care of at home the skin will be healed and prepared for another treatment.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Since the beginning of my career in Los Angeles in 2008 I’ve seen a variety of skin issues in both males and females. I spent a lot of time learning from books and articles around skin care. One of my favorites is Mark Lee’s Beyond the Basics he’s one of the best authors of facial books.
I still apply his techniques to this day. I faced a very challenging skin issue where a client had acne, and pigmentation melasma. This is caused by hormonal changes in the body. I was her last stop after seeing different dermatologists that treated her with topical and medications taken by mouth that made her skin even worse.
After a consultation where I asked about her current skin care routine and eating habits I was able to formulate a skin treatment for her and an at home skin care regimen with products that would maintain her skin in between facial treatments.
After 4 months of doing different kinds of peels and facials her skin issues were healed and cleared up completely. There’s always a solution to everything as long as you try and stay consistent. I’m honored to be an esthetician that helps bring back my clients confidence and a new beginning to face the world with their new skin!
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
My work speaks for itself and shows in my clients results. My clients speak highly of my work and their recommendations, online reviews and work of month is what has helped 90% of my business.

Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
I believe in order to succeed in this field is to stay in the know. Attending skin care conferences, trainings, and watching online skin professionals as well as dermatologists. It’s important to stay on top of the industry so doing things like reading skin care magazines ie: Dermascope and Skin Inc, are crucial to continue your education in order to solve your clients skin care problems. Another beneficial tip is to keep learning about different type of ingredients.
