We caught up with the brilliant and insightful LaQuita Foreman a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
LaQuita , appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
At Brow Baux,my mission is to inspire and empower young individuals from underprivileged backgrounds, who face the challenges of anxiety, PTSD, and limited faith by providing a beacon of hope and opportunity through beauty services, educational resources and mentorship. I believe that our background should never define our potential, especially those like myself who strive to break the cycle of adversity by creating opportunities for growth, self-expression, and personal transformation. I know what it feels like to battle anxiety and PTSD while pursuing higher education and chasing your dreams. Despite the challenges still show up passionate and resilient.
Through my business i aim to create something that extends beyond myself serving as a tangible representation of my journey and a symbol of hope for others To keep going. To Develop programs that promote skill development. In my opinion true empowerment lies in providing access to education, mentorship, and resources that can enable young individuals to dream bigger, achieve more, and break free from the limitations imposed by their circumstances.
My mission is too simply create boundless opportunities for those after me.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I got into the permanent make up industry at the expense of my desperation and curiosity. I was working as an educator but wasn’t happy or fulfilled. One day i was scrolling on instagram and this ad about getting certified in microshading popped up. I had never heard of it but knew i was interested in doing anything other than what i was doing. I wanted freedom. So, i used what turned out to be my last paycheck to register for that certification. A month later the pandemic hit and my job fired me. Immediately i knew it was a sign to start pouring into the idea of running. A business. Thoughout this journey I’ve felt so confused. Yet, I’ve never felt like quitting on it. I stay disciplined by focusing on where i want to be and practicing mindfulness. I mediate. Pray and remind myself to watch how i speak to me. My primary service is ombré powder brows and the girls are loving them. Because its a permanent cosmetic services I’ve seen ppl confidence rise immediately after the service which motivates me to continue. Knowing that I’m leaving a positive impact through my artistry. I can honestly say I’m most proud of my tenacity to work smarter and not harder, I’m proud of the way my heart is becoming more centered around helping others break the chain of self sabotage that we so often inflict upon ourselves. I want my clients to know I’m not better than them I’m their reflection.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
I love to suggest secrets of a millionaire mind by T. Harv Eker and we should all be millionaires by Rachel Rodgers. Preferably Rachels readings and podcast since she too is a good example for black entrepreneurs. Rachel Rodgers’ book serves as a catalyst for personal and financial growth for entrepreneurs. By challenging traditional notions of wealth and success, providing practical guidance, and fostering a sense of community, it equips entrepreneurs with the tools and mindset necessary to build thriving businesses and create a life of abundance
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
A combination of factors play a part. A lot of ppl will suggest finding your one niche or target audience. For me my community grows daily from. Me being multidimensional. I post to motivate and post to generate more clients through proven results. I wake up everyday and simply show love and spread as much information as possible to those interested in permanent make up or my artistry overall.
