We were lucky to catch up with LaQuandria Leatherwood recently and have shared our conversation below.
LaQuandria, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Innovation comes in all shapes, sizes and across all industries, so we’d love to hear about something you’ve done that you feel was particularly innovative.
The most innovative thing I’ve done in my career is starting a business, which is called Quench by Quan where we focus on keeping dry scalp Quench’d while promoting growth overtime.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My name is LaQuandria Leatherwood, and i started my entrepreneurial journey in 2017 when I noticed I suffered with dry scalp issues. I grew up around the hair solon setting or someone was always getting their hair done in the kitchen. I would always find myself at the local beauty supply store spending a lot of money on hair care products to keep my scalp moisturized. Since i have experience in pharmacy and hair care, I decided to create my own dry scalp oil named Quench by Quan and to also help others who may have dry scalp as well. What sets Quench by Quan apart from others, is that we focus on quality and natural products specifically for dry scalp issues while promoting growth overtime. One thing that I’m most proud about is that I created a hair care product that everyone in your household can use!
Can you talk to us about manufacturing? How’d you figure it all out? We’d love to hear the story.
I manufacture my own hair oil, with the help of some family members. When I first started making the hair oil it was in 2020 during the pandemic and i need bottles and ingredients to create my product. Since the world was shut down i had to find all my ingredients locally with in my community, which I’m gratefully to have a community that has stores that carry natural products. One thing i have learned about manufacturing my product is product labeling, and what information needs to be on the product for our customers.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
What i think help me build my reputation within my market is being myself, building relationship with beauty supply owners, using the knowledge that i already have and applying that to my businees, and using my friends and family members as much as possible to market and promote my brand.
