Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lanota Fludd. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Lanota, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about the best boss, mentor, or leader you’ve ever worked with.

One of the best mentors I had was a former supervisor. They had been in the business for multiple years and taught me the importance of balance. They shared with me that while it is extremely important to care for our clients it is also important to make sure that time is carved out to care for ourselves. It made a huge impact on my practice as in heeding their advice it has allowed me to be a better therapist to my clients as I am 100% focused on them and am able to provide them with stellar service due to being balanced.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I am an LPC (licensed professional counselor). I entered the field over three years ago and own my own practice called Luxury Life Counseling. I am proud to be able to work with persons struggling with anxiety, depression, transitional/life changes, and daily stressors. My practice was started as a way to create a safe space for clients that struggle in these areas to explore and process barriers.

Do you think you’d choose a different profession or specialty if you were starting now?

I am glad I took the leap to operate in my purpose. If given a do over I would chose the same profession. There is no greater joy than working in a field where I can work with others on their journey.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start?

In starting a business it requires capital. I was able to save money from prior employment to utilize to fund my business. I would encourage everyone to research possible expenses as much as possible. Even with planning there is always unexpected cost so for me I planned with a little cushion to weather the unknown.
