We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lanisha Thadison. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lanisha below.
Hi Lanisha, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
When I initially came up with the name of my business, I didn’t know what the future would be for my business. I was initially expanding on a hobby to make more money to pay for my kid’s after-school activities. But I thought long about what I valued in life and what I would value in business. I knew that my business would be helping women like me, juggling multiple areas in life, trying to do it all, working a business and raising and family and trying to find way to keep their sanity.
It made me think of my grandmothers Boise and Exemeda. Though they were not entrepreneurs they were superwomen in my eyes. They juggled raising large families, being active pillars in the community plus a host of many other things. I admired them. I knew they had to be a part of my entrepreneurial story. My grandmother use to say “Always wear your crown” I remember that and then there was my business name….B.E. Crowned. Names after my grandmothers Boise and Exmeda and a reminder to always wear my crown. Even when the business shifts and changes gears, this name will always mean something very special to me.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Lanisha Thadison. I grew on up on the west side of Chicago during a time with gang and gun violence was at an all time high. I didn’t grow up know many entreprenuers or having any in my family but I always knew i wanted to have a business of my own. I went to nursing school and worked as a nurse for 12 years before starting my Operations Consultanting business. I did oversight, management, workflow creation, program creation etc in the healthcare sector and wanted to transfer those skills in to the business world. I know I wanted to work with women because that who i connected to most. Now i help women entreprenuers to streamline their people, proccess and technology so that that can have more time back, make money, and be more productive in business. My greatest joy is seeing women who were about to throw the business away, not because they were not an expert in their field but because they didn’t have the right systems and support. So to have client turn around from those situations to have thriving businesses is amazing
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
My biggest strategy is being authentic online, showing the benefits of working with me and participating in more in-person networking events. When you focus on being yourself and not what you think people want to see, It gives people the freedom to like who you are to the core.
also don’t be scared to reach out to leads directly.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn the desire to chase perfection. Perfection is not an attainable goal. However do your best and stretching yourself is a goal. As a recovering perfectionist, i realized that I put too much pressure on myself and i don’t show up as my best when I’m chasing unattainable goals
