Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Landon Hanks. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Landon, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
It really only started from when I was younger. I always wanted to express myself in different ways and throughout many outlets. I performed in my small town community theatre for about nine years and that’s what really helped me be myself for the longest time. As I got older thought, I started to be more interested in social media and how taking pictures could capture so much personality. So that’s what I’ve been doing since. Oh, and I also got into the Acting Program at Texas State University, so that’s pretty sick too. I love acting.

Landon, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Well, it all started when I was really into special effects makeup. I was about twelve years old when I started, and I would post crazy makeup looks regularly. I did this for about 5 years up until I got into high school. That was when I began to fall out of it, not because I didn’t like it, but because I wanted something different. That’s when I started to find my love for acting. I participated in anything I could that would allow me to work on my craft and build a good resume for an acting school. On the side, I would post random things on my socials just for fun, but I eventually started to grow a bigger audience, which was super cool. Although, I never aspired to be an influencer and never considered myself one, really. However, I hoped that when people see my content, I want them to feel some type of release, almost like a break from everything stressful going on in their life at that moment. I want to provide happiness to as many people as possible, and to be able to go to bed at the end of the day, knowing that I not only made a person feel better emotionally, but inspired them to be themselves. I do this by posting relatable content on social media like TikTok or Instagram. Something to help a person feel like they are not alone.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Back when I still did special FX makeup, I started to gain an audience that enjoyed watching my tutorials and posts. This was something that I enjoyed doing, and posting things that related to it just helped me express myself more. As time when on though, my content started to change. It definitely wasn’t the same content I was making before but people still liked it so I kept posting it. After a while, my account started to grow again. All I can say is just post things you’re interested in, or just post pictures that show your creativity. Whether it’s a cute outfit, or a cool concert you went to, anything that makes you, you. That’s what makes you stand out.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I would have to say that being understood is a big one. After I came to college, I began to meet people with my same interests, and that definitely allowed for me to be more comfortable with myself. Just knowing that there are people out there that are on a similar journey really helps me thrive and flourish within my community.
