We were lucky to catch up with Landjina Louigenor recently and have shared our conversation below.
Landjina, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
I hope that my legacy as a burn survivor will be well known all over the world as someone who has been a role model to other burn survivors and inspiring them to grow interest in curiosity on living a happy life and embracing their scars.
Landjina, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
my name is Landjina Louigenor, I work as an Occupational Therapy Assistant. I am a burn survivor which is why the brand burn survivors on the rise was created. Our goal is to inspire burn survivors to love themselves, accepting their scars and embrace their injuries. While we’re emotional inspiring them we also thrive to support them however we can for example fund raising, sell merchs from our website to donate to whoever that we come across that needs help financially. Burn survivor On the rise want to bring a joyful lifestyle in the burn community. With the help of you and others we can successfully make it happend.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I survived a 3rd degree burn at the age of seven. I grew up feeling alone, low self esteem because i thought my scars made me less of a person. I didnt love myself, i was not confident to look at myself in the mirror nor wear beautiful clothes i wanted to wear because i wanted to hide my scars as much as i could. I went through my teenage girl journey feeling loss and unappreciative of myself. i worn my very first bathing suit at the age of 19 and thats when i started to develop a sense of self love and it has not stop since them. I’ve become very confident within my body and i learned what makes me happy. This is why i am using myself to bring a smile into others lives to make them aware that it is possible to be happy even with scars.
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Growing in Haiti i wish i had the opportunity and access to rehab or someone i could talk to about my inner emotion because I could not tell my familly about everything. I was not comfortable to express to my wonderful mother that her little girl was having suicidal thought. It was very limiting. I learned everything on my own and familly support.
