We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lance Cayko. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lance below.
Lance, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you wish you had started sooner?
I didn’t decide to pursue professional fishing until the ripe old age of 37 but wished I had started sooner because I’d be further along in it now. The later you start careers the more competition you’ll have contrasted by the fact that you will also be older. It will always be difficult starting a new career so starting it sooner rather than later is always a better option. Embrace the uncertainty in life.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Lance Cayko and I am a professional fisherman with the YouTube channel Fishing with Lance. Each week I take fans, friends, and clients on a fishing adventure deep into the mountains of Colorado. My goal with each adventure is to promote healthy living through hiking and connecting with nature. I do this by taking people to places they have never been or might have never considered going before meeting me. I am most proud of those that I have taken on said adventures who have then changed their lifestyles and turned them around to be more healthy with better eating, exercise, and fishing habits!

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I built my audience on social media through consistency of content. That’s the number one rule and advice I would offer to any other creatives who are trying to build an audience of their own. Try to post quality content consistently.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
The lesson I have had to unlearn is patience in content curating. The backstory is trusting my good friend Bill who helped me get started filming and editing my work.
