Hi Lana, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.

I grew up in southeastern Ohio in a small town where everyone works hard and knows every neighbor. My parents taught me the value of working hard and doing the right thing. We didn’t grow up with much or grow up traveling really, but my parents always took us on camping trips and taught me to value time with each other. I always think about my childhood and I’m thankful for all of the sacrifices my parents made to get me where I am today. Without them, I wouldn’t have been able to see the world.

Lana, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

When I moved to Nashville in 2013, it was a big culture shock to me, but it opened the doors to a world I never knew existed! I was a small town girl and I had always dreamed of moving to a “big city.” Nashville quickly became my home and led me to my first international trips.

I went to Jamaica, Europe, Africa, and the Dominican Republic all during college. My journey into the world of travel began with a passion for exploration, hospitality and a keen eye for detail. I just loved learning about other cultures and meeting new people.

After college I moved to India for a year to work for a human trafficking organization. My love for travel continued. When I came back to Nashville, I didn’t know what I wanted to do. So I started working at a hotel and my eyes were opened to the world of hospitality and hotels.

In 2022, I launched my travel business, Take off with Lana, to combine my passion for travel and helping people. It has been such a fun journey getting here, but I am happy to say I now have my dream job!

Each adventure has not only broadened my horizons, but has also honed my expertise in curating personalized travel experiences tailored to my client’s desires.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

I’ve been posting my life on social media for years, so it’s not new to me how to connect online with others. I launched my business instagram and really decided to focus on my branding, expertise, and showing off the beautiful properties I like to book for my clients!

My advice for others starting out on social media is to just start! It can be intimidating to post constantly and want every post to be high quality, but you just have to start somewhere. You can tweak and make changes as you go!

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?

I think the most effective way I’ve grown my business so far has been referrals from clients who have enjoyed their trips! I take care of my clients and make sure that every little detail is planned. I want them to pack their bags — not their worries.

Once a client has booked with a travel advisor like me, they never go back to booking without one! They know how special their trips can be.
