We were lucky to catch up with Lana Arana recently and have shared our conversation below.
Lana , appreciate you joining us today. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
The biggest risk I’ve ever taken is deciding to start my business completely on my own. I was 24 and was faced with the decision to either keep working in a toxic environment or leave and open my own place. I decided to rent out a tiny salon suite and put my entire life savings into starting it up. I opted for the most basic equipment and furniture to start because I was so broke. I also had 0 clientele. I was terrified but I knew I didn’t want to spend my life working under someone else. Now, almost 2 years later, I can say that risk has completely paid off. I’m in my own storefront building, have 2 employees, and see 40-50 clients a week.
Lana , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a licensed medical aesthetician, spa owner, and CryoSkin Master Trainer. I own a med spa that focuses on non-invasive body contouring. I’ve been an aesthetician for 4 years, working with cryoskin devices for 3.5 years, and a business owner for almost 2 years. One of the main things that sets me apart in this industry is that I’m a master trainer for CryoSkin. CryoSkin uses cold temperatures to slim and tone anywhere on the body. As a master trainer, I train business owners and estheticians locally and all over the United States. My med spa is only one of Fifteen training centers in the U.S. This sets me apart because I stay up to date on my technique, keep up with all the newest technology and modalities, and have dealt with so many different body types and concerns. From the very beginning, my passion has shown through to my clients. I love my job and the services I offer and I truly believe there’s a service for everyone. I see so many different clients with unique goals and concerns with their bodies. I love seeing their results and seeing their confidence come back. I have clients that have been with me for years working on one area after another because they’re so happy with their results.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
One of the main things that has made my reputation what it is in my area are my before and after pictures/treatment results. Most people don’t care about the science behind the treatment, how many sessions it will take, or how we get to the end result as long as they know they’re going to be happy with the treatment. We take pictures of each client at the start of the treatment journey and at the end. We also measure before each treatment. Because we diligently track progress our clients are able to clearly see their starting point and end point. This results in happy clients who talk about us to their friends and leave reviews. This also gives us great before and afters to post on our social media.
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
We see our clients every week or every other week during their treatment plan so we’re constantly checking in with them and making sure they’re happy. We are with each client anywhere from 3-6 months so we build long lasting relationships with our clients which results in loyalty. A month after their treatment plan is finished we book them again to follow up with their results and make sure they’re happy with their results. We also offer a referral plan- if a client refers a friend, that client receives a free treatment.
