Lamisha , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
The journey to becoming a business owner is fraught with challenges. It demands significant sacrifices, evokes deep emotions, and often leaves one feeling trapped. Although the path may be lengthy, the rewards are ultimately worthwhile. Throughout this journey, I experienced feelings of delay and denial, yet in the end, divine intervention prevailed.
There were numerous instances when life seemed incomprehensible, and I contemplated giving up, wishing to reclaim my investments. The struggles were real, and the calculations did not add up. Everything felt precarious, and the fear of losing it all was daunting. Rejections were part of the experience, as three individuals expressed their disapproval.
However, with faith, perseverance prevailed. Late nights and early mornings became the norm, and the thought of surrendering was not an option.
Challenges are not mere obstacles; they are part of the process. Maintain focus on your goals, even when life appears chaotic. The outcome will manifest, and it will be rewarding. Endure the tears, the hard work, the struggles, and the emotional turmoil. Stay resilient and keep your aspirations alive! The dream will materialize. As stated in Matthew 9:29, faith will bring about fulfillment, and we are living proof that when unwavering faith is embraced, results follow.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Children have been an integral part of my life since my early years. Growing up in an environment with foster children has profoundly shaped my perspective on life. The experience of having foster children in our home instilled in me a desire to contribute positively to their lives. From a young age, I aspired to pursue a career focused on youth. As soon as I was able, I became a foster parent and dedicated myself to studying education and behavioral sciences. While I did not earn a formal degree, I successfully obtained several relevant certifications.
I am the owner of Myseum, which offers a variety of services including general admissions, birthday parties, field trips, and private events. Our exhibits are distinctive, highly interactive, and, most importantly, enjoyable.
As I embark on this new venture, I am still familiarizing myself with the industry, and I recognize that effective marketing plays a crucial role in success.
Additionally, I aim to explore grant opportunities to facilitate respite events and overnight programs, as well as business development initiatives for teenagers at Myseum.
Let’s move on to buying businesses – can you talk to us about your experience with business acquisitions?
Yes , I purchased myseum.
Myseum is a children’s museum that was purchased using a SbA loan. I purchased it because it fits into the vision I have for life and overall for youth. I feel myseum is a great place to capitalize off engaging and helping the community and children in foster care.
The process was tedious and intense. There was a lot of discipline that took place during the process and SBA strategically looked through every detail of finances, spending habits and overall life.
We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
We met while working typical 9-5. We both had vision to succeed by any means necessary. Sat down with saint louis business group, selected a business and the rest is history.
Luckily we had savings that could be used towards the business.
