We recently connected with Lamesk8 and have shared our conversation below.
Lamesk8, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
You know I laugh looking back because I was into many types of art from getting my first digital cannon to my first lemonade wagon-I was always creating income and learning these tools that help my business today but back then I didn’t see it like that at allll. I used to love ANTM and I thought it was the modeling side till I realized that wasn’t where I was comfortable and continued with photography here and there when I was able to get the equipment and I thought I landed on sk8 art with my lens but after a sk8 accident and I didn’t have the funds to be able to get my dslr up and going so I focused on the sk8 brand with the decks and the clothing which felt like I hit the ground running when I focused on making the clothing I wanted to see for my brand and I didn’t see myself ever as a designer but honestly it’s the best job because I’m able to be full time sewing for my business while doing homeschool with my child and it’s flexible-I really can’t complain with the extra time I’m able to give back and work with more creatives and more cities in Texas and stoked for the new project that really shows the whole lot of team sh*t my brand wants to bring to the industry.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
Thank you for this question fr-I have a love/hate relationship with the social media part of the industry. I am grateful for how the internet has changed to let these creatives have a chance to get thier work out faster than ever with more audience range than ever over the last decade BUT with that we are risking a lot as upcoming artist with these already successful businesses that rip off our work with a blink of an eye because they have these resources to do what we do over night where it takes us weeks to months ons project and that hurts. I see a lot of indie artist that give up and Iv been there and Iv had to just move on but I hope to see more platforms and local magazine like this that really see us working hard.
Thank you x🖤x

Is there a mission driving your creative journey?
LAMESK8 as a business-Iv built around straight team sh*t to fashion shows to movements around my local community till I can reach outside of Texas as an artist and business I’m stoked for the underground projects coming out with many creatives out of Austin Tx fr really thankful for the team Iv got to learn and work with over the years
