We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lamark Plaskett . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lamark below.
Alright, Lamark thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
The biggest risk I ever took was moving to Atlanta with a dream and $600. I was suppose to get a big radio job, not only did I not get the job but I was suffering from depression, anxiety and missing my family that was now 750 miles away. But I learned so much about myself and to trust the process and of course GOD! I decided to move back to NY and give up radio but a major opportunity (still can’t speak of it) happened as soon as I moved back, so that was my sign to keep pursuing my dreams. If I didn’t move to Atlanta, I don’t think my mind would be where it is now. Atlanta not only humbled me but made me stronger!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
For those who don’t know who I am, I’m Lamark and I like to create dope sh*t. I’m from Queens (Rochdale Village to be exact) and I’m a cancer so you know I’m sensitive.
I started radio back in 2014 at Kingsborough Community College, WKRB 90.3. I created a show called “The Fresh Movement” and I rode that show for 8 years. The show had many homes like Party 101.9 Radio, Brooklyn College Radio, and it later became a podcast. I was able to feature the show on iHeartRadio, Spotify, and more.
The Fresh Movement gave me a voice that I never knew I had, growing up I was very shy and timid but always wanted to be a STAR.
My new project #LamarkAfterDark is really me stepping out of my comfort zone and just going balls to the wall and seeing if they stick. I wanted this podcast to be s*x positive, funny, spark up conversations but overall be something different. I like to create things that I would enjoy even if I wasn’t on the program.
#LamarkAfterDark drops new episodes every Friday at 8pm EST on Spotify, Apple Podcasts & etc.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My goal is to fight for the underdogs, I hear so many horror stories about radio (mine included) and I just want to create a lane that is easier for the next generation to pass. I think mainstream radio needs new talent and it’s no bad energy to the veterans on the air now but let’s work together to create longevity for everyone.
My goal is to host/produce my own syndicated radio show and make opportunities for the ones coming out of college with no radio experience but have the hunger and drive to learn and execute great content.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding thing for me is when someone can enjoy my content and not have to think about the trials and tribulations going on in their life at the moment.
I love to create a sense of escape for those who really just need a moment to laugh and not think about anything serious at the moment. But on the other side I also enjoy sparking meaningful conversations on my platform and getting someone to think outside of their regular norms.
