Lam, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Parents can play a significant role in affecting how our lives and careers turn out – and so we think it’s important to look back and have conversations about what our parents did that affected us positive (or negatively) so that we can learn from the billions of experiences in each generation. What’s something you feel your parents did right that impacted you positively.
My dad was a commercial fisherman and my mom was a factory worker. They laid the foundation for my life and career. They taught me to hustle and be kind, and those lessons have guided me to where I am today.
My dad battled the sea’s challenges day in and day out. He taught me that success comes to those who work relentlessly, never giving up. My mom, on the other hand, worked tirelessly in the factory. She made me appreciate every dollar earned and the stories behind them.
Beneath their tough exteriors, my parents were incredibly kind souls. From their actions, I learned the power of kindness and compassion, seeing how a small act of goodwill could touch many lives.
Armed with these values, I started my own business. I applied their work ethic, money-smarts, and kindness. Looking back, I realize how profoundly my parents shaped my life. Their hard work, money smarts, and kindness became my guiding stars. My journey is a testament to the transformative power of these values.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
A big lesson in starting a business was figuring out my target client. In the beginning, you just want to work with everyone to give your business some traction. As I began to get more clients through referrals and social media, I saw a pattern with my leads. Once I knew my ideal client and their struggles, I redesigned my monthly packages and even added more services to help solve their biggest social media headaches.
My advice for other women, particularly those who are just starting their journey is to be of service and value to others first and the sales will come. Opportunities will align with your purpose because your gifts to the world are special and unique. I also advise anyone jumping into entrepreneurship for the first time to save any money they can for a financial cushion. This will give you more peace of mind and allows time for your business to grow within the first year.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
As the demands of my career kept me away from my family, I yearned for more precious moments with them. I found myself missing important milestones and heartfelt conversations. The desire to be a more present and create lasting memories with my children grew stronger with each passing day. It was this deep longing that fueled my decision to embark on the journey of starting my own business, where I could have the flexibility and freedom to savor those precious moments with my husband and kids..
