We recently connected with Lalania Simone and have shared our conversation below.
Lalania, appreciate you joining us today. To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard.
Alchemy Ritual Goods is a spiritual boutique with a special mission, to make healing accessible to everyone. We have an Ancestral Medicine Clinic, which is sliding scale, no one is turned away. Our services include acupuncture/herbs, traditional spiritual healing practices, Usui Reiki, as well as several types of divination.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I consider myself a mystic, as my spiritual life is at the forefront of everything I do. I believe that we are all connected, and that we are the Divine manifested in form. Alchemy Ritual Goods is a reflection and extension of that. I am also a published author and an artist with both a tarot and oracle deck in the marketplace. I am grateful for the opportunity to share my art through my creations and my skills as an instructor in the Alchemy classroom.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I was trained as a fashion designer, and moved to NY in the late 90’s to try to make it in the industry. Though I was able to get a few designs carried by several boutiques in Manhattan and Brooklyn, it never really took off. When I returned to Denver, my home, I opened a cafe/ boutique, thinking I could sell coffee and my crafts. When that didn’t go as planned I opened a vegetarian cafe with a couple of good friends, we were open for just under 2 years. I went in all these different directions, following my entrepreneurial spirit. One day I decided to follow a path that incorporated my spirituality into both creativity and business. I started a subscription box company, and it was very successful, which led to the brick and mortar, Alchemy Ritual Goods.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
All of my businesses were funded on a dime. Literally credit cards and a handful of cash. When my original business partner, Flor Marquez, and I started Alchemy, I had a small child and was running the subscription box business while working a full time job at a non-profit. I managed all three jobs for 6 months before finally leaving the non-profit. But I was willing to do what I had to do to make it happen. Where there is a will there is a way.
