We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lala Jzhane a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Lala, appreciate you joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
Wow, the first time I knew had to be as young as 4-5. When I was a kid I wanted to be an actress. I’ve always been theatrical and as my grandmother would say a slight bit dramatic. Although I wanted to act I wanted to sing but what I really wanted was to be able to dress up and be as fabulous as the Raven Symone, The Kimora lee Simmons the real IT girls. My whole life I wanted to be someway involved in beauty in the arts I wanted to be a creator. However the first real real moment like that tv moment that flashes back to all the things I’ve done in my life and made everything make sense was my first week of School at the Art institute of Fort Lauderdale. I remember sitting in orientation and getting the news that we will be working Mercedes Benz Fashion Week our VERY FIRST WEEK OF SCHOOL. This experience totally changed my life I knew exactly what I wanted to do and be…. An overall creator. I wanted to make woman feel beautiful with their hair and makeup. I wanted men and woman to wear my name on their clothing and sleeves I wanted to be in charge of my own runway my own fashion show. I wanted not only all of those things but I wanted to model to I wanted to be one of those woman who felt beautiful but in my own products and in my own designs. That week working with artist designers photographers makeup artist hairstylists and beauty healthcare professionals made me see myself WHOLE I knew that day I didn’t have to limit myself I could be the creative I wanted to be.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
The baddest the realest the one with the biggest…. Personality lol. Jk Hey y’all for those that don’t know me I’m Lala J’Zhane Influencer,Creator,Future Healthcare Beauty Professional & Model. I’m from Broward County 954 we definitely be kicking the door down. However a lot of people think I’m from up north lol. My whole life anyone who knows me would tell you I’ve been destined to be in the beauty fashion industry that’s all I’ve ever wanted to do. When I was a kid I would make my dog outfits and sketch my life away. I really did think that fashion was what I only wanted to do but as I grew I found that I wanted to do more than just create I wanted to be the canvas as well. I’ve rebranded lately and I’ve decided to become my own brand. I revamped all my social media and made me the brand I’m the product although I have physical products Lala jzhane is the brand. From Cooking services to beauty services and healthcare as well the brand is me. In this I have decided to make everything circled around me and not limit myself to one category but a unicorn one who is able to do it all. Lala J’zhane is a full service traveling Beauty bar & More, Lace Installs, Protective styles, makeup, brand ambassador services, & modeling, catering and more to come. I was asked what’s the toughest thing I deal with and I think that as a freelance creator the hardest thing is clientele and popularity, a lot of today’s customers and clients like to go where it’s popular or to who has the most followers. Although that is good from an influencer standpoint a lot of these artist and creators aren’t authentic. Say it with me authenticity, because that’s what you are always going to get from me I’ve always been authentically me from growing up in the federal projects to being an Straight A student hanging with the kids who didn’t quite make A’s I’ve always been ME. I think that’s what makes me so different from any other hairdresser or makeup artist or model or even future nurse I am always me and I’ve always had the same mind and mindset. You come sit in my chair & you’ll feel like you are in the bathroom with your bestfriend & let’s not talk about my prices I can bet you $5 I’m the most affordable & talented artist you will find today. I don’t want an arm and a leg you don’t have to come pre braided washed and blown out with a 750 credit score and a dog. I also don’t need you to buy edge control & I definitely don’t need you to bring your own lashes to the makeup appointment. This a full service environment & I will travel to you how can you beat that I’m really the goat… I mean seriously I’m a Capricorn I’m literally the GOAT. So if you a baddie who not trying to sell your soul to be a baddie book @lala.Jzhane & photographers I’m ready to shoot no limits so let’s work. Honestly any creative model influencer chef podcaster singer artist healthcare influencers let’s all work.
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
There are so many resources available today that are helping build creatives and giving them opportunities that is changing their lives. I don’t think there are any resources that were readily available to me when I was younger. However I definitely wish social media and the impact it has today was available a lot sooner I believe that a lot of creatives would be so much further than they are today. With apps like TikTok with the way things are going viral so many creatives were just before their time. Social media today is so important the places it can take you are limitless if you are consistent.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
The goal and mission that’s honestly driving my creative journey is creating generational wealth for my future children and their children and their children and so forth. My whole life I’ve wanted to be the change in my family the person that changed everyone’s lives especially after my cousin/second mom shanell died. She was definitely one of my biggest supporters and fans she seen so much in me that I still don’t understand today but she was always adamant that I will be successful. Creatively she always understood my visions her passing made me want more and made me want to do more not only for me but for my family as a whole. I have to succeed you know I have to be successful that’s it this is it. So that’s what drives me my need to be successful my need to break generational curses and to create generational wealth.
