We were lucky to catch up with LaKisha Mosley recently and have shared our conversation below.
LaKisha, appreciate you joining us today. Covid has brought about so many changes – has your business model changed?
Covid totally changed my business model. I went from doing 100% in-person events to pivoting totally to online events. I had to change how I did everything in my business. I read everything I could about online events because I wanted to successfully produce the dopest online events.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m LaKisha. Serial entrepreneur, who retired from grocery retail management during the pandemic to be a full time entrepreneur and mom to two adult children. I’m an event planner, a blogger, brand influencer and a speaker. I love talking about mental wellness, events and family.
I’m the CEO of The LaKisha Mosley Enterprises, LLC. Chief Content Curator of the LM Blog. Event Producer & Digital Event Strategist of The LM Experience. Oh and also PLR Maven of the PLR Academy. As you can see, I wear many hats and play lots of roles. Of all the roles I play, the most important role is Mom and now Grandma, but I’m affectionately known as “Sassy”. I have two pretty awesome adult children, Kaniecia and Kaylon. And also an amazing little grandson, Kai’vion. Family is super important to me and I spend as much time with them as possible.
In the Fall of 2018, I decided to launch my blog. I had been journaling for a while and decided to share some of those stories. My blog was a great place to share my views on certain topics and issues. Now, I want it to be a resource for others covering a wide range of topics from business and entrepreneur life to personal and faith based topics. I’m very passionate about mompreneurs and women in business but also about sharing my faith in God.
I’m so passionate about events and now with COVID I’m on a mission to increase the awareness of virtual events and how effective they can be for your brand. The LM Experience specializes in event planning and management as well as offering strategic plans to entrepreneurs, companies, and organizations around brand exposure and growth through the creation of curated virtual experiences that drive real returns in revenue.
I am known as the “Olivia Pope of Virtual Events” because I truly understand the virtual event space and how to seamlessly help clients stay relevant in an ever-changing digital world. My superpower is creating stunning, refreshing and fun virtual experiences that specialize in engaging audiences and making my clients’ branding events not only a success, but memorable for years to come.
I have produced many events including “The Digital Werk-A-Thon“ as well as The LME’s “My Mind is My Business Mental Wellness Summit”, and other national conventions, regional conferences and weddings.
In 2020, amid the worst devastation this world has ever seen called COVID, I retired myself as a grocery retail manager for a local grocery chain and became a full-time entrepreneur. That was a huge leap of faith and something I totally had to depend on God for. It has been one of the toughest things I’ve ever done but so worth it!
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
When Covid hit, I had to quickly figure out how to pivot my in-person event planning firm to an online firm. I had 5 clients with in-person events that I needed to convert to online events. Some were resistant to the idea but I had to show them how we could make it work. At the end of the day, it all worked out great!
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Authenticity! People trust and do business with people who are authentic. If you are relatable and can share who you truly are, people are attracted to that. I think sharing the highs and lows of what you do as well as how you can help people solve their problems is definitely one way to grow your clientele.
