LaKisha, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?

Believed in me…… They never gave me crutches, they gave the tools so that I would never have to use a crutch. They prepared me for the worse in life, yet gave me the education to overcome any obstacles that would come. I am in a career where only 2% of my field is made of ethnic women… Because I believed in myself but more importantly because other people believed in me and NEVER let me stop or give up even when I wanted to..
Both of my parents are deceased. I’m an only child. I have never felt so alone after losing my parents. However everyday , through every tear and every stressful moment. I hear their voices and I know that I am smarter, braver and stronger than I will ever think I am ..

LaKisha, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I’m LaKisha, for those of you that are just meeting me :)

I have been an EFDA ( Expanded Function Dental Assistant ) for over 20 years , I recently 1 year ago started my journey as a medical laser aesthetician.

From a Dental standpoint, along side my amazing boss, Dr.Scott Allman, we simply create beautiful smiles. We do everything from routine dental care in our office, to those amazing smile make overs with veneers or implants.

We like to think we have the best Dental team in Atlanta, Just ask Atlanta Magazine as we are going into our 3rd year as one of the TOP DENTIST in ATLANTA.. We couldn’t be more proud of our office..
Erin our hygienist has the best touch in Atlanta. Yalonda and Nia are hands down the best front office team you will ever have to encounter. Chelsey is new to our clinical team but she fits in like she has been with us forever. Dr.David Jones is a master when it comes to TMJ issues, Dr.Allman does the best veneers in Atlanta, hands down. What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?

Relationships…. People call our office all the time and they comment on our reviews. We build relationships, friendships and our patients become family and friends…

You have to be confident in your skill but you have to know how to build a personal relationship with patients or your clients. That’s what makes you stand out. The face that you remember their child is about to graduate, you recall the last trip they took. You have to go above and beyond treatment.. I will always say the best new patient I can get is a referral. That says not only did you trust me but you trust I’ll take care of your family and loved ones as well…

If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?

I would do it all over again… I am in love with what I do and the joy it brings to my patients. . The long hours, continuing education, hard work , 7 day work week.s I would do it all over again to see the smile on my patients face… I always tell my kids, pick a career that if you had to do it for free you would still get the same joy as doing it with a paycheck..
