We were lucky to catch up with Lakesha Quarles recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Lakesha thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
The story behind my mission is simple…to provide care and resources to expectant mothers and their families. My goal is to be what I needed when I went through my pregnancy journey.

Lakesha, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a mom and an advocate for all things birth, who enjoys helping in my community. I completed Doula training in October 2020, in Greenville, SC. I am a Certified birth & postpartum Doula, Certified Midwife assistant, Community Breastfeeding Educator, Certified Childbirth Educator, and much more.
I’m an advocate for teen pregnancy and help families with evidence-based information to assist with breastfeeding and other resources they may need. @sunflowerdoula_kesh
Outside of all things birth, I’m a Phlebotomy and Medical Assistant Instructor.
I offer a variety of services, birth and postpartum, breast milk soap bars, Placenta services, SneakPeek testing and more. My goal is to be a one stop shop for all of my clients to help them get through their journey with less stress as possible.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I think that consistency is what helped build my rapport here in the community. My resilience and dedication is what keeps me motivated and going, even on the tougher days.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele is the use of social media. A lot of people like to blame social media for bad things that happen, but if it’s being used for the right reasons, then it’s easy to benefit from it. I love to post what others can relate to and vice versa. When people find me on social media I want them to be so captivated by my content that they have no choice but to hire me, lol. Even if they don’t hire me as their doula, I offer so many other things that they end up using one of my other provided services. Social media has definitely worked in my favor.
