We recently connected with Lakesha Bland and have shared our conversation below.
Lakesha, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
As I look at a lot of other businesses they often put profit over their customer’s. You can see this in so many industries and how it is affecting people’s lives. My company cooks all types of food for different nationalities but the goal is to always have integrity in business by always providing my customers with the best quality foods that create healthy cravings based on flavors alone! I want all my clients to look forward to their next meal!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
What’s amazing about Flavor Fetish is it exists out of demand and is pushed by word of mouth. Outside of social media posts there have not been any real marketing attempts. People taste food at events and follow me because the food is delicious, different and somehow familiar! It’s seasoned well and memorable! People tell there friends and so the business grows! We provide meal prep, full service catering, private chef services and commercial catering .
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Posting online pictures worked so well to bring in new business I had to slow down to keep up! The idea that people eat with their eyes first is real.. In my case it became almost immediate to the extent that as I focused on my clients I had to have a member of my staff to take pictures as I focused on more immediate needs! I want every event to be special.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
The pandemic brought a time of great uncertainty for me. Events were at a stand still. The way clients had to be served was completely different according to the CDC. There were no buffets, family styled meals changed to individual meals and extra safety precautions had to be set in place. Also the availability of items changed.. In response I began ordering from vendors I had never used before. We had extra training sessions about the CDC requirements with staff and by God’s grace we adapted and thrived!
