We caught up with the brilliant and insightful La’kendrick Davis a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
La’kendrick, appreciate you joining us today. Taking care of customers isn’t just good business – it is often one of the main reasons folks went into business in the first place. So, we’d love to get a conversation going around how to best help clients feel appreciated – maybe you can share something you’ve done or seen someone do that’s been really effective at helping a customer feel valued?
In our industry, it’s mostly a “pay for the service and see you later” type of space. Fortunately we’ve been able to add value to our clients while also being able to show our appreciation as well. From offering super discounts to simply holding their hand through the process, it all can enhance the experience for all involved. We know most plan to write or create but very few plan to sell. We not only offer services, we offer coaching and consulting to help guide our clients. One of the the best things I’ve seen to show a customer that you appreciate them is when we offered a advertising place for an local flower shop owner who had just returned from sick leave. We allowed her to have an $300 placement for only $75. She instantly started crying in appreciation and it felt so good being able to help someone so humble.

I’m La’Kendrick ‘Don Dulli’ Davis, founder and CEO of Witness Legend LLC. My journey into entrepreneurship started from a deeply personal place – I’ve always been driven by the desire to help others tell their stories and build their legacies. Back in March 2019, what began as an e-commerce venture has evolved into something much more meaningful: a full-service digital empire that’s transforming how businesses and creators present themselves to the world.
Our company specializes in what I like to call ‘digital domination packages’ – comprehensive solutions that include everything from website development and branding to social media management and high-end video production. We’ve also expanded into book publishing, helping authors bring their visions to life through our various publishing packages. Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
Listen here, y’all – when it comes to managing a team and keepin’ everybody’s spirits high, I’m gon’ tell you straight up what works for us at Witness Legend. First thing’s first – you gotta treat yo’ people like family, not just employees. That’s why me and my wife Donna built this thang from the ground up with our daughter right there with us, puttin’ in that work.
Now lemme break it down real simple-like:
First off, you gotta lead by example. Can’t expect yo’ team to put in that work if you ain’t willing to do it yourself. At Witness Legend, we out here puttin’ in 60-80 hours a week because that’s what it takes to build somethin’ real. When yo’ team sees you grindin’ like that, they respect the vision more.
Second thing – and this here is crucial – you gotta give folks room to grow and shine. We believe in lettin’ people bring their own flavor to the table. Whether it’s our content creators or project managers, everybody got their own special sauce, feel me? Don’t try to box ’em in.
Third – and this right here is what separates the real ones from the rest – you gotta keep it 100 with yo’ team at all times. Transparency ain’t just a buzzword round here. When we hit our goals, everybody celebrate. When we face challenges, we face ’em together. That’s how we maintain that 80% customer retention rate – ’cause everybody on the team knows they part of somethin’ bigger than themselves.
Last but not least, y’all gotta remember to celebrate the small wins. In this digital game, things move fast, and it’s easy to get caught up always chasin’ the next big thing. But we make sure to recognize when somebody do somethin’ special, whether it’s completin’ a bomb publishing package or landin’ a new client through our Digital Domination services.
And here’s a lil’ secret sauce for ya – we keep our team motivated by showin’ ’em the bigger picture. We ain’t just buildin’ a business; we buildin’ a legacy. By 2025, we aimin’ to have 50-75 team members and our own production facilities on 5-10 acres of land. When yo’ team can see where they fit in that vision, that’s when the magic really happen.
Remember this though – ain’t no handbook can tell you exactly how to lead yo’ people. You gotta feel it in yo’ spirit and lead from the heart. That’s how we do it at Witness Legend, and that’s why our team stay motivated to keep pushin’ the boundaries of what’s possible.
And one more thing – don’t forget to pray over yo’ team. We keep Yah first in everything we do, and that right there is the real secret to our success. When you operate in faith and purpose, the morale gonna take care of itself.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Let me tell y’all somethin’ real – when it comes to growin’ our clientele at Witness Legend, we’ve discovered what I call the ‘Value First’ funnel strategy. See, most folks out here just tryna sell, sell, sell, but we do things different.
Our most effective strategy has been what I call our ‘Digital Domination Pipeline.’ Here’s how we break it down:
First off, we start with our ‘foot in the door’ offer – them discovery coaching calls. This gives potential clients a taste of what we about without them having to commit to a big investment. It’s like lettin’ folks test drive that Mercedes before they buy it, feel me?
Then we got our ‘Name Your Price’ service for authors – that’s our breakeven offer. It shows folks we flexible and understand everybody at different stages in their journey. This right here has been golden for us because it removes that price barrier while still deliverin’ premium value.
But here’s where the magic really happen – our referral system. We maintainin’ that 80% referral rate because we treat every client like they family. When you deliver results and keep it 100 with your people, they can’t help but spread the word. That’s why we got that 95% customer retention rate – ain’t no marketing campaign can beat word-of-mouth from satisfied clients.
We also structured our services like a ladder of success. Start with the Ruby package at $500, then move up to Emerald at $1500, and finally hit that Diamond level at $2500. Each step up brings more value, and clients can see their growth right along with ours.
