We recently connected with LaKeena Little and have shared our conversation below.
LaKeena , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
I started my boutique to encourage people to be their own unique selves. I think so many of us struggle with being comfortable in our own skin and doing our own thing. I want to encourage people to embrace their uniqueness and what makes them different from everybody else.
LaKeena , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I have been in the healthcare field for 20 years. I transitioned into the path to entrepreneurship in 2017 when I launched my first business. I started my second business in 2020.
I’ve always believed one’s individual style is what makes them unique and separates them from the crowd. While discovering my own sense of style, dressing comfortably and my love for simple accessories, I was motivated to start a business.
Starting a business is stressful, time-consuming and costly. It definitely hasn’t been an easy journey. It takes a lot of patience to figure out what works best for you and what doesn’t. There are times you may feel like giving it up. It’s definitely been a learning process for me. But, I’m proud of myself for taking the risk and hopefully one day being a business owner will be my primary career.
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
We like to acknowledge our loyal customers and supporters via social media, send out email communications and occasionally we have contests where where our audience can win free merchandise.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
You have to realize that not everyone is going to support you and that’s okay! You have to find your target audience and cater to them specifically. Don’t focus on who doesn’t support you.
