We caught up with the brilliant and insightful LaJean Pratt a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, LaJean thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. The first dollar your business earns is always special and we’d love to hear how your brand made its first dollar of revenue.
This question actually gave me chills while processing! I secured my first client by sending a mass text message. Sounds simple, right? I added Holistic Wellness Coaching to the program this year but at the end of 2022, I created a pilot program called “mind-bod-soul prep. in preparation for launching the coaching business and providing extended services for future clients. Since I had the vision, I needed clients to fulfill the plan. So, I sent the mass text out and the text community consisted of individuals that I have met at prior events, referrals, and even strangers from running errands. Well, by the grace of God this particular woman responded and shared that the prep was exactly what she needed at that time in her life. I knew it was a divine connection! My coaching services are my way of serving and fulfilling my purpose on the earth, so I was thrilled to co-create space with her. We are still connected to this day and she is thriving!

LaJean , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Healing Is Her, LLC is a holistic wellness brand that allows individuals to create and sustain abundant living. I founded Healing Is Her in 2020 as an accessible resource for community wellness. Throughout the years, I have mentored and coached families who struggled with daily plagues of stress, anxiety, depression, grief, sleep deprivation and many other minor and major issues but refused to trust medicine. So, as I constantly struggled with tension headaches myself, due to overload, I started to create natural products using simple herbs like peppermint. eucalyptus, rosemary, and a plethora of herbs and oils to fight the daily overload. I would rub my temples with peppermint for five-ten minutes to relieve the tension headaches and then it clicked. I figured that if I could cure my own headaches using natural remedies, I wonder how many other people are struggling with headaches that are looking for natural reliefs. So, in 2020 I launched a line of multi use wellness oils where individuals could use them throughout the day to fell relaxed, focused, confident, and happy. In 2021, the product line grew and we now have over eleven natural products to help with living a life of wellness mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. As we expand, we have partnered with therapeutic establishments and schools to share the wealth of wellness through holistic workshops and curated wellness boxes. As expansion continues, I have added holistic wellness coaching services as a way to connect directly with individual’s as they create and sustain a wellness plans for a fulfilling life.

Okay – so how did you figure out the manufacturing part? Did you have prior experience?
In the beginning I would purchase aesthetically pleasing bottles from Michaels to store my own natural remedies. for my tension headaches and hair growth. When I noticed that other people in my circle were experiencing the same issues I challenged myself to share the wealth. I knew once the product was in their hands, it was too late to turn back. The results were all that I had experienced myself! Of course when creating a product, it has to be tried and true, and that can be a bit scary. I remember sitting at Staples and wondering how I would be able to fulfill multiple orders without bulk products. I thoroughly searched and found a distributer in Virginia to provide wholesale natural products and Amazon for tons of products as it relates to packaging. Over the years I have created systems that will allow me to fill, package, and sale products efficiently depending upon the labor. I have learned to give myself grace as I have to make changes and search for products to provide customers with valuable products and services.

Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
I enjoy genuine connections, so whether its the initial session, mid way through their coaching journey, or a former client. I am either checking in or for former clients, they contact me and openly share their wins and challenges. I always want to see them win with grace! I share the importance of client growth with my clients so that they understand that wellness coaching will always be a resource for them to grow.
I typically contact customers directly through email to follow-up about their purchases and to see if the products met their direct needs. But, with my coaching clients, I have the opportunity to be a bit more intimate. Fostering brand loyalty in this context is more about the service and my overall character and moral compass as I help them to develop along their journeys. I truly enjoy genuine connections, whether it’s the initial session, mid way through their coaching journey, or a former client. During post coaching check ins, I usually provide the space for them to openly share their wins and challenges. I always want to see them win with grace! Lastly, I emphasize the importance of client growth. I want them to understand that wellness coaching will always be an accessible resource for journeys.
