We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lahana Vigliano a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Lahana, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Was there a moment in your career that meaningfully altered your trajectory? If so, we’d love to hear the backstory.
I always knew I wanted to be in healthcare. Even at the age of 5, I said I wanted to be a doctor. I kept with this dream until I was 2nd year of my undergraduate in pre-med. I started noticing that what was being taught was a pill for every ill. If a patient had something wrong, the solution was figuring out the right medication for them. Before this defining moment, I also became a mom at 17 years old. My heart started to shift being a mom and wanting to raise my family healthier to avoid becoming a chronic disease statistic. With those two things combined, I knew there was more to health. I didn’t know exactly what yet, but I knew I wanted to dig for it. I fell upon nutrition in a nutrition class that I took in my undergrad. I still wasn’t sure what my career would look like going down a path of utilizing food as medicine, but I took the leap because it intuitively felt right. Once I started my undergraduate degree in nutrition science, everything fell together. The biggest lesson from this was listening to my intuition and knowing that it always leads me in the right direction.

Lahana, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a board certified clinical nutritionist who has an Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition Science and a Master’s degree in Human Nutrition and Functional Medicine. I will be starting my doctorate degree in the fall of 2022. I am also the CEO of Nuvitru Wellness. I founded this business out of my love for helping women use food as medicine to balance hormones and digestive issues. We see diagnosed conditions, such as IBS, PCOS, colitis, endometriosis, diabetes, hypothyroid, etc. But, we also see women who may not have a diagnosis, but struggle with digestive symptoms and hormonal imbalance symptoms. We help the client DIG for the root cause of why the body is sending out these red flags.
I have seen so many women gaslighted from their symptoms and how poor they are feeling to given a drug or “it’s just your age” comment. We’ve helped thousands of women take back their health + ‘defy the odds’. There are many times women come to us after seeing a variety of practitioners dismissed + we’ve been able to get them back to feeling GOOD!
Outside of work, I’m a mom of two and wife and reside in Austin, TX. I am a homebody that absolutely loves a good book and a strong Enneagram 8.
Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
CONFIDENCE! Confidence in yourself, both the knowledge you’ve gained and your uniqueness that makes you stand out.

How do you keep your team’s morale high?
This has been something I’ve had to learn over the years, but it’s vital to have your company’s mission, vision, and core values at the forefront in everything you do. I value authenticity and being yourself and I felt this has helped bring the company to be close like a family that holds trust + respect.
