We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Laëtitia Mahicka. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Laëtitia below.
Laëtitia, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you wish you had started sooner?
I used to think that I started too late but now I honestly don’t wish I had started my creative career sooner. I’m proud of my past corporate career because I proved to myself that I could do it and I was good at it. It taught me to be disciplined, grounded, how to work hard, how to handle myself, and today I apply the same principles to my creative career. A lot of the jobs that I book as an actor or model are corporate related because my corporate career is part of my brand. Starting my creative journey at the time I did enabled me to have more maturity and to have more realistic expectations. I don’t think there is such a thing as starting too late, I think you start when the time is right.

Laëtitia, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m a French actress, model and life coach. I used to be a Marketing Manager for women’s magazines until 5 years ago I decided to transition from a corporate career to a creative career. I really took a leap of faith when I quit my marketing career. At the time, I was living in Sydney, Australia and then I decided to move to LA to pursue my dream. The dream quickly became a tough reality. I learned what hustle really meant when I moved here. Making a living as an artist was even tougher than what I had imagined. Having said that, I’m proud of myself for taking a risk and for going after what I want. 5 years later, I booked over 30 commercial & print campaigns nationally and internationally. I’m represented in LA, Sydney, Paris and Tel Aviv.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
This creative journey is all about resilience. For me there were so many obstacles. First of all, to even be here in LA I had to work really hard to obtain a work visa. That alone took months of work and thousands of dollars invested with no guarantee of success. When I finally got my visa I was then faced with the challenge of having an accent (French), which is something as an actor that I’m still working on. Despite the odds against me, my motto in life is to always give it a chance and to give it my best. I transitioned from a successful marketing career to then start at the bottom as an actor and model in LA. But I always felt gratitude for being lucky enough to being able to pursue my dream. That feeling kept me going during difficult times and I’m proud of what I have accomplished in the past 5 years.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
The goal driving me is to fully explore my potential, whether it being in my creative journey or in life. I believe that when we break free from boundaries set by family, friends, society and ourselves, magic really happens. I want to see how far I can go by giving myself the tools to explore what is within me. This life mission is what led me to also become a certified life coach as I’m very passionate about helping others unlock their potential and achieve their goals.
