We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful La’Don Batiste . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with La’Don below.
La’Don , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
You hear so many horrible stories when it comes to the music business! Automatically the first thing I wanted to understand was the business so that force me to learn more about it. This book was recommended to me from a fellow artist called “All about the music business” big part of why I am here today! Literally the first chapter title spoke out to me “Build your team” because My ego I was a one man army. Knowing what I know now that wasn’t going to work. I would exhausted my creativity out just by all the little things adding up
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My name is La’Don I’m a independent artist from Cartersville, GA 40 miles outside ATL!
My story is a little different being that I got into my passion later in life. Music has always been in my life just never apart of it if that makes sense. Growing up I never saw myself doing any of this being that I have no musical background. Until I heard myself through the speakers life would change for me that very moment. Music has gave me a purpose again though you will hear that through the songs. Vulnerability is a everyday struggle when you’re used to doing the complete opposite. Overcoming insecurities that I may have never known existed has helped me in so many ways! So if you’re reading this just understand I’m human and my music gives a clear reflection of that!
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The feedback feeling is what I like to call it. Hearing someone tell you how your song has resonated with them is a priceless complement.
Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
The true power of the internet and how it can benefit your career or creative space! I knew this was key component in being discovered or “making it” just never knew how beneficial it was to my career. I’m a natural loner and I stay to myself privacy is a must for me so having to constantly post my events were a slight struggle for me. The power of the internet is unmatched and a valuable resource when used properly!
