Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to LaDarrian Moore. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi LaDarrian, thanks for joining us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
Rebelle Gold Cosmetics was originally called Rebelle Creative, Rebelle Inc. the idea came to me in 2015. I was working in retail and I wrote everything down, journaling, random notes, EVERYTHING. At the time before Fenty Beauty was officially released, there was a limitation of foundation for black women and women of color. I wanted to change that. I may not be the pioneer but i wanted to be one of the women to change that and be inclusive. Especially in the alternative scene. That’s apart of my influence not just the music but the style. Everything that inspired and influenced me is what made Rebelle Gold what she is. I felt it would work because well there’s nothing more authentic than being myself. People will either like it or love it, if they don’t like it it may not be for them. I was most excited because my niche and what felt like me, everything on paper is coming to life. There’s nothing greater and more powerful than that.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
The beauty industry was something I was attracted to at a young age, watching my mom put on makeup. The type of make up she bought and wore, I was very observant. I was also observant in films. By the time I was in middle school to the beginning of high school i was collecting magazines with different artists, models just loving the colors of their makeup looks. Especially the more alternative and darker fashion. For high school dances I was allowed to get my make up done and then that birthed my love & passion for makeup, my passion for skincare and self care was instilled at an early age. It was always in me and I gravitated towards it. I would practice make up on friends, on myself, making it a habit to pursue my dream somehow even if i was attending school for something else. I thought “I could do both”.
Rebelle Creative was born 2017, later in 2020 I changed the name to Rebelle Gold Cosmetics thanks to a former friend. I am an aspiring MUA and currently in school to become a licensed esthetician. My goal is to go further than make up but selling product right now is my focus, offering products that’s inclusive for everyone. I want all women, really all people to feel beautiful. However my brand was to make a lot of people feel seen, just enhancing their beauty. That’s what I believe will and is setting me apart, I’m hoping to have my own store front one day. You walk in, not sure of your confidence but you leave out and you’re walking perfection!!
Rebelle Gold will be more than a brand and house hold name, it will be a lifestyle. You will be the best rebel you can be and OWN THAT. You’re beautiful, you’re amazing! It starts within and I want to help with that, that’s my gift to everyone. Once upon a time, I didn’t like anything about me but I’ve grown to love every bit and grow with it.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I think for most of my 20s all I have done is live life on a pivot. I struggled because when my academics were doing well, I would become very withdrawn. Depression was a serious thing that was apart of it, I had moments where I would try and have a good day. Some days were bad but in 2022 was a real pivot. All I had to do was finish school and I let life get in the way. I lost my vehicle, I let transportation be the only excuse. I gave up on school and being an entrepreneur, I attempted to step out on faith but it just wasn’t the right timing for me. My business was suffering because of the hours, i also attempted to work and help someone else run their business. So instead of a balance, it felt like everything was suffering and not moving forward other than a job.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
This is more a continued part from the pivot story. I think I need to just offer some advice, do what makes you happy and what is best for YOU. Don’t let anyone ask you “what about bills, what about xyz” do what’s best and trust your gut because people will project their insecurities and stresses onto you which distracts you from YOUR path. Your timing can align with the universe’s timing — now is a good time as any just make sure you have a plan.
