We recently connected with Lacyona Muldrow and have shared our conversation below.
Lacyona , appreciate you joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I knew during some point in 2014 that I wanted to fully engage in music professionally. The reason behind the story is because I developed an even deeper passion for music after partaking in Drumline: A New Beat on VH-1. Meeting Nick Cannon, LaToya Luckett, Young Joc and other artists/actors/actresses sparked my interest furthermore because I doubted my talent and capabilities as a young woman and most importantly as an individual who is musically inclined and being from South Carolina caused me to really look down on myself for several years until that year of success pivoted my career in many ways musically.
Lacyona , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am mostly known as Lace “The Hands” and some call me by my nickname from my vocal tag in my songs (Lay Lay). I come from by way of Florence, SC where most look over some of the dopest talent. I took an interest in music as a toddler playing on my grandmothers pots and pans with spoons on her kitchen floor. Since that age I never ventured off into any other activities outside of music in grade school which made me want to pursue earning my degree in Music Industry from South Carolina State University. I started my entertainment company, “Hands On University” as a source of signing myself as its first artist and using my platform for future underground artists aspiring to sign with H.O.U.
I also have my music studio, Hands On Studios that I work out of which results in some of my greatest and creative hits. I feel like my work ethic and creativeness sets me apart from others who do the same as I do. Artistry is what you make it and you have to have patience while think outside of the box for something that uniquely sets you apart from everyone else in the world. I am mostly proud of my work ethic and musical projects thus far since January 1, 2023. I set a goal for myself to release 4 big albums before the end of 2023 and I met that goal earlier than expected. I released the fourth project On May 12th which gave everyone a thrill and heightened the analytics for each project.
My brand is what I would call a brand of thrill and infinitive creativeness. I have spent my entire life working on my identity as an artist and a marketable brand that I gain excitement from, I am pleased to say that my hard work has and still is paying off.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Yes. I work hard naturally because music is genuinely my passion and I have always had big dreams since my childhood to become the worlds greatest women in music from several levels of talent and a major household name coming from South Carolina who actually will help her community out and boost their self esteem.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is noticing and feeling the growth from within yourself and hearing others know and sing your song lyrics word for word on a day to day basis as well as your live performances.
