We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lacie Doll. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lacie below.
Alright, Lacie thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
When I was in my twenties I served in the U.S. Navy. I had a very serious job, one that left me depleted at the end of the day and didn’t add to my quality of life. Even though i knew the work I was doing was important i wasn’t very fulfilled. I made the decision to transition back to civilian life, when given the chance to pursue happiness and figure out what my dream really was. Since then I have found my passion and it’s story telling. I have produced over a dozen shows and movies, written three books, launched my own production company and audiobook distribution company. It took almost a decade to complete all of my goals but I have found my quality of life.
Lacie, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a U. S. Navy veteran and a multi business owner. I got my foot in the entertainment door from modeling professionally, since then I have made it my passion to empower women and write compelling stories for and about black lesbians. I started my career as a writer and film maker in 2016 with a web series called ‘Unclassified the Series.’ The show followed a group of friends on their journey through life and was based out of Key West, Fl. The show got way more traction than I ever imagined it would. After it’s success I decided to move to ATL to pursue a full time career in the industry. By 2019 I launched a production company with a business partner and we stayed very busy creating our own projects and bringing other peoples stories to life as well. In 2020 I launched my makeup line, Fake Beauty. By 2021 I launched my lingerie line, Laced. I have since discontinued my makeup and parted ways with that business partner. In 2023 I created Unclassified Media and made the decision to run my media company entirely by myself. Since it’s creation I have secured my own film distribution deal, wrote three books, I am currently filming a movie and a reality show called ‘Real Femmes of ATL’ and have become an audio book distributor focusing on LGBT books and LGBT authors.
