We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lacie Armstrong a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Lacie, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Based on my 10+ years of experience in Marketing/Brand & Digital Content Strategy, being successful requires a combination of creativity, adaptability, and strong organizational skills. It takes the ability to manage complex projects from concept to delivery, collaborate effectively with diverse teams, and stay ahead of industry trends. Your success is also driven by a proactive mindset, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality content that resonates with audiences.
Success in the entertainment industry itself requires resilience, self-belief, and the ability to navigate challenges with grace. I’ve encountered situations where people were dishonest or tried to undermine me, but I never let it stop me. My grit and determination have fueled my drive to succeed, pushing me to stay focused, work hard, and believe in myself—even when others didn’t. I’ve learned that perseverance and inner strength are essential to overcoming obstacles and achieving my goals.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a seasoned professional with over 10 years of experience in the Entertainment Industry, specializing in Television, Film, Radio, and Broadcast Journalism. I have held key roles, including Producer, Assistant Director, and Unit Production Manager, working on both large sets and within corporate environments.
A Bakersfield, California native, I graduated with distinction from California State University, Los Angeles, with a degree in Film, Television, and Media, specializing in Broadcast Journalism. My experience spans across television shows, independent films, radio broadcasts, and Virtual Reality productions.
In my most recent role as a Unit Production Manager in Virtual Reality at META, I supported over 10 agencies, managed 250K+ assets, and oversaw 15+ projects, showcasing my adaptability in digital media. With experience in acting and voiceover work, I also bring a unique perspective to every project. I’m most known for my creativity, reliability, and expertise in Content Marketing, I continue to push boundaries in the industry.
Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
I believe there is a clear difference between managers and leaders. Managers often focus solely on business outcomes, remaining detached from their teams and the growth of their people, which can lead to high turnover rates and a lack of genuine engagement. In contrast, leaders are actively involved, prioritize the development of their team, and genuinely care about the company’s success. This approach not only fosters a supportive work environment but also reduces turnover, boosts productivity, and creates a lasting positive impact in the industry.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
A valuable lesson I had to unlearn was the belief that I had to accept any job and stay silent to succeed in this industry. I realized that the right opportunities wouldn’t disappear simply because I spoke up—if anything, my voice and boundaries reinforced my worth. My time, presence, and skills are valuable, and I don’t belong in spaces where that isn’t recognized. I’ve learned that money alone isn’t always worth compromising my self-respect or values.
