Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Laci O’Reilly. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Laci, thanks for joining us today. What’s the best or worst investment you’ve made?
In 2021 my husband and I decided to purchase our first home. We found a single level house that had a guest house in the back yard. This was perfect because our plan was to “house hack” and buy a property with an auxiliary dwelling that we could use as an Airbnb. The house was more expensive than others in the area, because it had been on Airbnb and the owner was selling the income potential. We ended up not only using the guest house as an Airbnb, but we put up a wall where there was a master addition to the house and put that on Airbnb as well! Our first year in our home we only lived in 50% of our house. This sacrifice allowed us to buy a second house, and put another Airbnb on our property!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a jack of all trades. I built a house in 2020, in Washington state that is also an Airbnb. The last time I spoke to Voyage I was a full time makeup influencer. Now I am also a student getting a masters degree in digital marketing. I am also a mom of 2 fantastic children. Working for myself allows me the flexibility to have my kids at home with me. I work hard to provide excellent spaces for my guests that come to stay. Each unit has a theme, and is decorated according to that theme. I am a 1 woman show I do all the updating, management, and cleaning myself.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
It is really important to be consistent. Posting regularly, and creating content that you enjoy. I grew my audience off of tiktok actually. I made really cringy videos that took off and went viral. My quick rise on tiktok is how I got the audience on Instagram that I have now.
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
I actually exchange phone numbers with the guests that I connect with well. They will contact me personally when they are coming back into town to stay at one of my units.
