We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lachauna Edwards. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lachauna below.
Alright, Lachauna thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
I hope that my legacy will be one of positivity and encouragement. I want people to look back and say that I was a woman who encouraged healthy marriages and families, who helped others achieve their dreams whether that’s playing in the NFL or owning a small cupcake shop. I want my clients and community to say that I was always there to lend a hand and provide a word of hope and wisdom.
There are a lot of people who encourage others to achieve their career or business dreams. Then there are others who speak on the importance of family and love. But me, I want to be known as someone who helped others build a lasting legacy in both their professional and personal lives and I believe that the work I am doing now is laying the groundwork for a legacy that will be remembered for years to come.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a multi-hyphenate creative. I am an Attorney/Business owner/Content Creator/Wife (of 9 years)/Mother (twin daughters and an 8yo son)/Speaker and Marriage Coach!
I have always loved the arts. I was that kid who loved to dance and draw and write poetry. But I was also the kid who dreamed of being a lawyer as well – which is what I ultimately chose to pursue as a career.
For almost a decade now, I’ve been practicing civil rights/education law and found great fulfillment in this role– fighting for justice and making a difference. But somewhere along the way, I lost my love for the arts. I got busy with work and family and forgot the Creative inside of me.
But then, in 2020 (like everyone else) I finally had the space and time to pursue those lost things that brought me joy. I began to create content on Instagram because I wanted to encourage my community to have healthy marriages and families while pursuing personal goals. And it was then that I began to rebirth my love for the arts.
I fell in love with everything about creating content — editing photos, thought-provoking captions, relatable and creative shot-form videos. It was like unearthing the little girl in me.
Then sometime in late 2021, I began to realize my day job wasn’t bringing me much joy anymore. I began to search for a way to bridge the connection between law and creativity and from there, launched my own Business and Entertainment law firm (Lachauna Edwards Law) to help creators and student athletes launch their business, protect their brands, and build their legacy through trademarks, copyrights, contracts, etc…
I still create inspiring and educational content about family and marriage. In fact, I started a marriage coaching membership on Instagram subscriptions However, I also bridge in legal information to help creators and entertainers leave an impact on this world, in and outside of their home! It has been amazing to see all of this unfold and I’m just getting started, but I am so much happier now, utilizing all of my gifts!

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I am literally in the midst of a career pivot as I respond to this interview. I have been a federal attorney, practicing education and civil rights law for almost a decade. But now I am pivoting into entreprenurship, and more specifically a business and entertainment lawyer with a focus on creators and student athletes. I am working long hard hours to run my two side businesses (marriage coaching and my business and entertainment law firm) so that I can eventually take on these roles full time.
I decided to pivot in my career because I realized that I wanted to help creators and athletes understand the immense value in owning their brand. As an attorney, I not only have the ability to help people navigate the legal system, but helping creators and athletes protect their brand and business gives me an opportunity to help them build their own legacy. I also believe that creators are the future of the economy, and that intellectual property lawyers will be in high demand in the years to come.
So far, the pivot has been challenging but rewarding. I have had to learn a lot of new skills, such as how to run a business and how to market myself. But I am committed to making this pivot work, because I believe it is the right thing for me and for my family.
The future looks bright for me as an entrepreneur. I am already seeing results from my business and entertainment law firm, and I know that there is much more potential for growth. And as more and more people recognize the importance of entrepreneurship, I believe that my firm will continue to grow and thrive.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I started my social media journey in 2020, when I decided to start encouraging my community to have healthy marriages and families. My goal was to share with others the things I had learned regarding how to have healthy marriages and families.
I tried to be a mommy influencer only but for me it felt incredibly fake to just pose in pretty pictures with my kids. I wanted to be authentic and tell real life stories of how to manage parenting and partnership while still being purposeful with your personal goals.
This approach helped me build a large social media following very quickly. My authentic content resonated with my audience, and they were able to connect with me on a deeper level.
My advice to others is to learn to embrace the changes in social media by being flexible with your content strategy. For example, I started using Reels in September 2021 rather than complaining about instagram no longer using photos. Now, I have mastered Reels and it takes me no time to create them. Im just starting my TikTok journey but Im enjoying it so far!
