We caught up with the brilliant and insightful LaBrianna Rusk a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
LaBrianna, appreciate you joining us today. Do you wish you had started sooner?
Honestly, I believe God’s timing is always perfect timing. I started exactly when I was meant to. Sometimes I think back to 2016, because that was such a golden era in the beauty world; if you were active then, you could’ve really become a staple. But even with that thought, I know God has a way of showing you that His timing is better than yours.
I have grown so much in just four years of becoming a creative SFX artist! When I tell people I’ve only been doing creative artistry for four years, they’re always shocked because of how clean my work has gotten! But to me, it still feels like I’ve barely scratched the surface. That only tells me one thing: something bigger is being prepared for me.
If I had started sooner, maybe I wouldn’t have had the same mindset, discipline, or spiritual grounding that keeps me centered now. And if I had started later, I might have missed the window where I discovered how powerful my gift truly is. So looking back, I wouldn’t change a thing. I started right on time, and the growth I’ve experienced proves that the journey was designed exactly how it needed to be.
Something big is cooking! That’s why the foundation had to be laid first.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Of course! Im from Dallas, Tx! West Dallas raised! I come from a big family that keeps me motivated, uplifted, and laughing on the days I need it most.
I fell into makeup back in 2019 when COVID had all of us at home trying new things. I’ve always been the creative friend! The one who loves dancing, crafting, painting, and turning random ideas into something Bri Inspired! So makeup wasn’t a surprise at all. I taught myself the basic beauty techniques, then started experimenting with small creative looks, mainly intricate eye makeup. But once I branched off into creative face painting and body art? Ohhhh, I took off. That’s when I realized, Yep, this is my lane.
I knew I wanted to level up when the art became bigger than me! It was not just about myself anymore! Makeup was no longer just a therapeutic activity! It is a career field! Now, It is about how I plan to become a well known figure in the beauty industry! How does LaBrianna Rusk become a beauty icon?
For starters, I got certified as a professional makeup artist in Master Beauty Artistry and SFX through the Michael Vincent Academy in Los Angeles. That experience changed everything for me. I pray that 2026 has more for me and my future career!
One thing I always tell people, is to never stop posting and pursuing your art. If your post gets 20 likes, just imagine those same 20 people showing up at your personal art gallery to see your work, that is a win! Don’t count the likes, count the support. Do it for you.
What sets me apart is the energy I bring. My platform is a safe, fun, uplifting space. I’m always encouraging people to stay open minded, stay creative, and keep a little light on their feed. I love bringing fresh ideas, vibrant looks, and good vibes to my audience.
I’m proud of how far I’ve come, and even more proud of the community that’s grown with me. For anyone new discovering my work, just know: everything I create is done with passion, purpose, and a whole lot of heart! Maybe a few glasses of wine, but My art is meant to inspire, make you think, and make you smile.
And trust me, this is just the beginning. Cheers!

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Building my audience on social media was a journey of staying true to myself. I focused on sharing what I genuinely love and creating content that excites me, not just what’s “trending.” The cliche advice to “be yourself” really is true! People can sense authenticity, and when you stay true to your voice, your audience finds you.
For anyone just starting out: don’t get too caught up in chasing trends. Trends come and go, but your unique perspective is timeless. Share what you care about, experiment, and don’t be afraid to show your personality, your supporters will connect with the real you, not a version of you trying to fit in. Your passion and authenticity will become your signature, and that’s what makes people stick around.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Oh absolutely! My mission is to bring more diversity to the beauty community. While there are creatives of all races, shades, and backgrounds, it’s been hard to find artists who look like me creating beauty as art, and I want to stand proudly in that space. I also want to inspire people who are uniquely “weird” like me to embrace their individuality and dive into their niche. Beauty is limitless, and I want everyone to feel like there’s a place for them here.
