We were lucky to catch up with Labrent Lee recently and have shared our conversation below.
Labrent, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I wanted to do more in my community but obviously needed money to fund different events and projects. I decided to sell T-shirts to bring in funding. Shirt sells were great and as requests for other items grew so did the idea of a full clothing line and well here we are…
Labrent, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am LaBrent Lee, Owner and operator of Royal Black Heritage and RBH Apparel. The sole purpose of “Royal Black Heritage” is to uplift and support our black community. We are blessed with an ability to succeed in whatever we choose in life but because we live in a society that see’s us as the underdog we have started to conduct ourselves as such. We allow ourselves to be distracted and forget how strong and powerful we are as a unit. Generations and generations before us worked extremely hard and endured so much to ensure that generations to come could overcome the struggles of their elders. Our mission is to build on the foundation that was laid long ago..
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Word of mouth has been the most effective form of promotion for me. My clientele is majority repeat customers because of the quality of my apparel.
Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
Like most business owners I had to work for others in order to afford working for myself.
