Today, we’d like to introduce you to La Javi. La was introduced to us by the brilliant and talented Notorio 718.
Hi La, we’re so thrilled to have you sharing your story with us today. Maybe we can kick things off by having you introduce yourself to our readers? We’d love to have you go into your story and how you got to where you are today.
I was born in 1986 in Santiago de Chile. My parents were both politically active and cultural workers, which was considered forbidden and a threat to the nation under the current dictatorship. This led to the entire family’s exile to Sweden. My earliest memories of growing up in Sweden were marked by racism and the feeling of not fitting into the new society. This made me a very angry youth with great legal pathos. The new country had taught me to express myself freely and I did so mainly in text. I wrote a lot of poems which then developed into lyrics. Music has always been a big part of my life. We sang a lot of folk music at home but also a lot of progressive music with conscious lyrics. This led me to the world of reggae. The music was about freedom and struggle and a fire grew in me. As society evolved and the female potential gained more space, I allowed myself to experiment and play with music in a way that many women had not done before. Reggae slowly changed to reggaeton and my idol was Ivy Queen. She had both the freedom and the respect to take her place in a male-dominated world and I wanted in!
Im a proud indigenous Chilena, based in Stockholm, Sweden. I consumes my listeners with my spicy and sassy attitude, as well as a powerful tongue to match. My music is fused with influences from Latin Urban, Reggaeton, Dembow, Cumbia, Trap, Soul and Pop.
Please talk to us about your creative work and career. What should we know?
Being a female reggaeton artist has come with its fair share of obstacles since the start of my career. Despite the challenges I’ve faced along the way, I wouldn’t change a thing. I have an unshakeable passion for making music, performing, and the exhilaration that comes from writing lyrics that resonate with the rhythm. My journey has taken me to TV shows in Sweden, radio features, and even a documentary. In short, music isn’t just something I do—it’s something I live and breathe every single day.
So, as we mentioned to our audience earlier, you were introduced to us by Notorio 718 and we really admire them and what they’ve built. For folks who might not be as familiar, can you tell them a bit about your experience with Notorio.
Notorio has been an incredible pillar of support throughout my career, playing a major role behind the scenes. Always supportive and ready to assist in any way he can, he has been a constant source of inspiration. We’ve collaborated on numerous songs and countless music videos. He’s a true visionary—someone who sees an idea and brings it to life with precision. Whether it’s long days in the studio or all-night video shoots, his dedication never wavers. I’m proud to be part of his musical team.
